DANBURY -- Blogger Alfonso Robinson has accused members of a local anti-immigration group of leaving a death threat on his car while he covered a protest against health care reform on Main Street last weekend.
Robinson, author of the Hat City Blog, said he was filming the demonstration outside U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy's office Saturday morning attended by members of the United States Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement and discovered the threatening note when he returned to his vehicle.
"Hi (expletive), your days are numbered," the unsigned note read, and it concluded with both racist and homophobic slurs.
Elise Marciano, head of the group, which has long called for stricter enforcement of the laws against illegal immigration, denied that any members of the organization were responsible.
"It's purely made up," Marciano said. "Most people don't even know what he drives and didn't even know he was there. This was made up by Al Robinson because he is trying to discredit us."
Robinson, who has clashed repeatedly with Marciano and her associates over the years, said he filed a complaint with police on Tuesday after discussing threat with his wife and other bloggers.
"As someone who has dealt with this for a number of years, at first I didn't take it as seriously as I should," Robinson said. But he eventually, he said, he decided to "shed light on the fact that people are crossing the line when it comes to certain topics. It's one thing to say you're against health care, and another to leave a threatening note on a car."
Marciano said no members of the United States Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement have been contacted by police, as far as she knows.
"Our group is for law enforcement," she said. "Most of our members are in their 60s or retired. We are not into crazy, right-wing stuff."

Hey, Robinson, since you were filming, do you have any film of that?
Hate to break it to ya, honey, but these tactics are crazy left wing stuff. The right wing isn't leaving death threats.
Sounds like a fake.

Oh Boy! Everyone’s jumping on the bandwagon!
He gave me advice about cameras on June 11, 2009.
I took his advice and tripled my output on You tube!
Care to share it or you going to keep it to yourself?
It was only technical stuff.
In Simsbury he was with baby in a stroller.
I wonder why Mr. Robinson forgot to sign his note. ;0)
