Andrew Breitbart Big Government ^ | 3-26-2010 | Morgan Richmond

One of the more controversial elements of ObamaCare is the mandate for most individuals to purchase insurance beginning in 2014. There is really no precedent for a federal mandate of this scale requiring individuals to purchase a product or service. So not surprisingly a number of state Attorney Generals have indicated they will be filing suit questioning the constitutionality of this provision.

Do not be fooled by this. Just like the “mistake” of not covering children with pre-existing (what a misuse of the English language that phrase is. The condition already exists) conditions this was left out so another 500 page bill could be constructed to fix it.

"the individual mandate in Obamacare lacks any real enforcement mechanism."

Horse feathers! I have read it. It's in the 2300 page reconciliation bill. It gives the enforcement to the IRS and says that the IRS code will be amended for such.

More likely the IRS is tasked with identifying insurance scofflaws, and an as-yet unnamed gov't agency will take it from there.

Just so you know them, they'll be wearing brown shirts.

It’s probably just that the rest of the Dems, like Weiner, could never admit the IRS enforcement in public, so just like their denial of the abortion funding, this is their story and they’re sticking to it!

What will happen is the penalty will suddenly disappear from your refund if you are due one. Or you will be harrassed/audited if you haven’t paid up. This is too clever by half so they can make the bogus arguement when they get taken to court that it's not mandatory.
