‘Don’t Tread on Me’
National Review ^ | March 27, 2010 | Robert VerBruggen

As the House health-care debate entered the homestretch on Sunday, GOP lawmakers interacted with the protesters who had gathered outside the Capitol. “There was a very, very large group of people, and many flags from our heritage were on display,” recalls Rep. Geoff Davis (R., Ky.).

Davis and fellow Republican representative Mary Fallin (Okla.) borrowed one of those flags — a yellow one bearing an image of a rattlesnake and the words “Don’t Tread on Me” — brought it upstairs, and hung it from the building’s balcony.

That flag has become a staple of tea-party rallies nationwide. Its appearance at the Capitol last weekend was only the latest of many times it has symbolized American resistance to government encroachments on individual liberty.

Just ordered three shirts from 2a-gear.com. I will be wearing them to my 45th high school reunion in September. It will be interesting to see the reactions that I get.

The guy at 2A Gear makes great stuff. I have a little oval sticker for my car with the Gadsden snake that he made. Subtle but communicative.

"When that traitor was elected the left said now they felt they could fly the US flag. That’s when traded out our US Flag for the Gadsden."

That's pretty deep. I had not considerd that. I think you're on to something.

Finally got mine yesterday. I didn’t want to order online and wanted to support a local business instead. Tuesday AM I went to one local shop and he sold out of his entire stock Monday and Tuesday.

Went to a much larger shop with a couple of locations here in Milwaukee and I got their last one. Both places feigned surprise at why they suddenly got popular :)

Flying proudly outside and I’m sure in my little Obama neighborhood its going to be news LOL!

It’s interesting how mixed my feelings have become about old Stars and Stripes, given the tyrants that now stand behind it.

I had also, like you, shifted my allegiance to the Gadsden to a certain extent until my mother passed recently and I inherited the flag used to drape the coffin of her second husband who fought with the Marines throughout Guadalcanal. It’s too big to fly, but it’s a damned imposing presence, unsullied by the usurpers who have only recently dragged it through the mud.

I think I now like the Gadsden flying below the Stars and Stripes. For me, the AR-15 is clearly understood and therefore unnecessary, and would be an M1A anyway, but I can certainly appreciate the sentiments, and the reaction it would evoke from the leftists.

I remember very well the first time in my life I was ashamed of the USA.
It was the bombing of innocent Christian men, women and children from 30,000 feet in Serbia that did it for me.
We bombed radio and TV stations, railroad depots and bridges, even hospitals.

I can no longer pledge my allegiance to the evil State or they flag they fly.

My comment then was that for the first time in my life, I was not proud of what my country was doing.

On Easter Sunday, as I recall, to boot.

I’m 6’1 and 200#, and that shirt is an XL. But I like loose shirts, they help cover the belt armory better.

Well, I already have one of those with a rifle. In fact, it bears an amazing resemblance to the cover of your first book. Go figure! $;-)

Unite Against Tyranny or Relinquish Liberty

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine has combined the radicalism of Saul Alinsky, the corruption of Springfield, Ill., and the machine power politics of Chicago. What we saw Sunday night was a pressured, bought, intimidated vote worthy of Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but unworthy of the United States of America.

Democratic Congressman, Alcee Hastings, articulated the principles of this machine mentality perfectly when he said, “There ain’t no rules here, we’re trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make ‘em up as we go along.” Video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbHTJSu_2Lk And he’s one of the more honest democrats in Congress who while serving as a federal judge, was impeached and removed from the bench before being elected to the House.

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future and the ballot box is not our only option.

Unite Against Tyranny

Develop websites to expose leftist organizations, leftist celebrities, companies that support the leftist agenda and all left wing publications. A good place to start is here, http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=977 If this blog does not produce a live link, visit my blog.

Let advertisers know that “We the People,” who are the real consumers, will no longer buy products advertised on political leftist propaganda broadcast media, magazines and newspapers. Display a list of all leftwing publications on blogs.

Businesses with waiting rooms stop displaying leftist publications like the New York Times and Time magazine. Display a list of all leftwing publications on blogs.

As soon as the left sends in groups like ACORN to stage protests in front of businesses they like to control with intimidation, “We the People,” need to come out in droves in support of those businesses.

Stop believing what the leftist media like MSNBC, NBC, CNN, ABC and CBS are telling you no mater how convincing they try to sound. They have had many years of experience in pulling wool over people’s eyes. Display a list of leftwing media outlets on blogs.

Stop watching all leftwing shows and state sponsored news propaganda media outlets that use journalism as a disguise. Also let the advertisers know that we the real consumers will no longer buy products advertised there.
Expose all leftwing shows and news propaganda media outlets on blogs.

Boycott all movies done by leftist actors and producers.
Expose all leftwing celebrities on blogs.
Since the leftist media ignores the needs of “We the People”, stage peaceful protest in front of their doors exhibiting signs such as “In God We Trust” and “Don’t Tread on Me.

Find out which teaching institutions have Marxist professors, expose them and mount peaceful protests in front of their campuses.

Stop buying and start selling stock of companies that support the leftist agenda. Expose those companies on blogs.

Explain to your kids what is taking place and how this might affect their future.

Add your own ideas to my proposal and pass it on as you wish. A modern version of email chain letter and clever YouTube skits are also options. This is not about race or social status. In God’s eyes we are all created equal and if we don’t come together to oppose the tyranny that is threatening our freedoms, the opportunities that every American once enjoyed will be lost not only for future generations, but for you personally. Legal immigrants included. If you think your piece of the pie is too small now, soon there will be no pie left.

It was clearly an “in your face” comment from the left, like saying “now we can be proud of our country again”, it was in the news in those early days right after Obama won.

Seems like a thousand years ago Travis. It just made me sick and I wanted something to show we were different. I think the Gadsden flag sends a clear message. I don’t think the socialist/fascist/commies will be flying it so I make it clear which side I’m on.

It’s also what I ‘fly’ as my front license plate.

When is your next book coming out?
