Obamacare bait & switch
Washington Times ^ | March 27, 2010 | Editorial

The health care bill that President Obama signed last week bears little resemblance to the reform package he once touted from the campaign trail.

With the final legislative product in hand, it's worth evaluating how it compares to the promises Mr. Obama made to voters regarding the plan's cost, its features and the reform process itself. The difference between then and now couldn't be more stark.

Candidate Obama repeatedly assured the public that his health care plan would cost between $500 billion and $650 billion. This modest amount was to be covered entirety by discontinuing the George W. Bush tax cuts for those earning more than $250,000 a year.

Today, we know that Obamacare will cost at least double that amount. The basic price tag is $940 billion over 10 years, to which one must add the $208 billion "doc fix." This adjustment to the reimbursement doctors receive under Medicare was separated out from the main package to hide Obamacare's true cost. . . .

Fixing the health care system by lowering costs and improving access were never the goals.

"The health care bill that President Obama signed last week bears little resemblance to the reform package he once touted from the campaign trail. "

Maybe it's just me, but I am just flabbergasted at these people who seem to be just now figuring this out...I mean, for over a year now barack obama has lied about whatever his purple lips are babbling about at any given time.

It's it obvious to the most casual observer what a con man he is? He is a living example of every racial stereotype I have ever heard...he lies, he steals, he cheats, he insults, he bullies and he is arrogant...just to name a few.

"Bait and Switch" is a nice way to say, "you lie"...that's all it is. You promise one thing, and then deliver something completely different. Now I ask you, would you continue doing business with anyone else who did that to you?

We're not talking about switching a an advertised refrigerator to a cheaper model, or substituting a K-mart handbag for a Gucci...we're talking about our country's future, and our children's/grandchilren's future.

The big tagline in the past 8 years was, "Bush lied, people died"...it was an uproar, movements (Code Pink) were formed around it...but then every President who ever was involved with a war had people under him who died...obama has people dying in Afghanistan, as we speak.

But obama is lying our country into oblivion, and when we rise up as concerned citizens who have had enough, we get called "racists" and "domestic terrorists"...and the rumor is he's preparing a "civilian security force" to do a "WACO" job on us all if we don't behave.

But still we have those standing around with one finger in their mouth, and one finger up their butt...everytime obama says "change" they switch hands.

Ohhhhhh, we've GOT to be politically correct or the lamestream journalist will be offended and write bad things about us. Half of these journalist we fear so much don't even bathe but once a week, and probably stay stoned most of the time. Let them write...it's what they do...it's ALL they can do.

Be surprised when (and if ever) obama DOESN'T lie...not when he does lie...that's normal for him. He lives in fantasyland and he's the main "Tinkerbelle".

Candidate Obama saying Obamacare doesn't work in Presidential debate 1/31/2008

OBAMA: I don't see those folks. And I think that it is important for us to recognize that if, in fact, you are going to mandate the purchase of insurance and it's not affordable, then there's going to have to be some enforcement mechanism that the government uses. And they may charge people who already don't have health care fines, or have to take it out of their paychecks. And that, I don't think, is helping those without health insurance. That is a genuine difference.

How many people remember that during the Presidential campaign Barack Obama prommised that every American would have access to the same health care package as members of Congress?

“Change means keeping the promise of affordable, accessible health care for every single American. Under my plan, if you have health insurance, nothing changes for you, except that my plan will lower your health care costs. If you don’t, you’ll be able to get the same kind of coverage that members of Congress give themselves.”
