Whose Country Is It? [More Evidence That The NY Times Is Refugee Haven For Deranged Journalists]

Whose Country Is It?

By CHARLES M. BLOW March 26, 2010 The far-right extremists have gone into conniptions.

The bullying, threats, and acts of violence following the passage of health care reform have been shocking, but they’re only the most recent manifestations of an increasing sense of desperation.

It’s an extension of a now-familiar theme: some version of “take our country back.” The problem is that the country romanticized by the far right hasn’t existed for some time, and its ability to deny that fact grows more dim every day. President Obama and what he represents has jolted extremists into the present and forced them to confront the future. And it scares them.

Even the optics must be irritating. A woman (Nancy Pelosi) pushed the health care bill through the House. The bill’s most visible and vocal proponents included a gay man (Barney Frank) and a Jew (Anthony Weiner). And the black man in the White House signed the bill into law. It’s enough to make a good old boy go crazy.

Hence their anger and frustration, which is playing out in ways large and small. There is the current spattering of threats and violence, but there also is the run on guns and the explosive growth of nefarious antigovernment and anti-immigrant groups. In fact, according to a report entitled “Rage on the Right: The Year in Hate and Extremism” recently released by the Southern Poverty Law Center, “nativist extremist” groups that confront and harass suspected immigrants have increased nearly 80 percent since President Obama took office, and antigovernment “patriot” groups more than tripled over that period

This is a nice set up piece for a doctoral dissertation on how stitching together disparate pieces of supreme non-sequiturs with arguable major and minor premises makes for journalist essay.

I suspect with a last name of Blow, this guy suffered numerous head injuries over the course of growing up. Maybe it stunted his intellectual growth?

Mr. Blow and his ilk have a problem with laws and the Constitution. Restore the Constitution as written and enforce it.

Is the New York Times so broke from paying all them huge bonuses to their top execs that they are now reduced to employing mental 5 year olds to write for them? The bill was pushed by a woman, a gay man, a black man and a Jew so therefore its got to be good and can't be opposed?
Hey, the jails are full of hundreds of thousand of black men and women as well, so I guess that makes going to jail a very noble act too. And I guess Lucrezia Borgia and Mata Hari need to be commended for poisining people and sending thousands to their deaths because they just happen to be women too.

Liberals are fixated on categories; conservatives (at least this one) care about individuals' ACTIONS. That's how I define people--not by what they say, what they claim they believe, but by what actions they take that have an impact on me and my country.

This is how I look at his paragraph:

A democrat speaker pushed the health care bill through the House AGAINST THE PEOPLE'S WISHES. The bill’s most visible and vocal proponents included A MAN WHO HELPED DESTROY THE ECONOMY (Barney Frank) and A MAN WHO ONLY APPEARS ON TV TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EVIL AND SELFISH PEOPLE WHO DON'T AGREE WITH HIM (Anthony Weiner). And THE FAR LEFTIST WHO LIED ABOUT 'LISTENING TO THOSE WHO DISAGREE WITH HIM' AND 'BRINGING UNITY TO THE NATION in the White House signed the bill into law. It’s enough to make a LOYAL AMERICAN WITH A KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THIS NATION IS ABOUT go crazy.

This writer is like all lib journalists: He talks only to those who work in media OR to liberal government officials. They work together and socialize together, and talk about caricatures of people they never, ever meet.

Then they perpetuate these stereotypes.

Unlike someone who reads his actual thoughts, which are crammed full of stereotypical thinking, and are published only to push MORE stereotypical thinking, all while claiming to care about "real" people.

The author has lost his grasp of political reality. I want to state for the record also that whether a woman, a gay man, and a Jew helped push this bill through makes absolutely no difference to me and has no effect on how strongly I oppose this bill. I oppose this monstrous health care legislation because it's an outrageous federal power grab and is blatantly unconstitutional. The federal government has no constitutional right to dictate to citizens that we must buy expensive, gold-plated, low-deductable health insurance policies that are projected to cost over 10% of many family's gross incomes in a few years. I think there's a good chance that large parts of this legislation, including the requirement that citizens must buy insurance, will be struck down by the Roberts court.

The democrats are going to take heavy losses in November despite cheerleading by the MSM. The decisive election wins by Scott Brown and Chris Christy in liberal states are a strong sign that Obama has already lost the trust of most Americans. I expect the GOP to gain about 70 House seats and send Pelosi packing from the speaker's chair.

You have to understand that Obama's win in 2008 was an aberration caused by two events: 1) a lot of violence in Iraq between 2003 and 2008 combined with constant, 24/7, biased, unbalanced, shortsighted media coverage of that sectarian violence and the strategic situation in Iraq, and 2) the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy which was all too coincidentally timed just two months before election day and caused serious disruption of the financial markets and even caused a money market fund to take a slight capital loss. If either of those two events hadn't happened, then McCain would have beaten Obama in 2008. The Obama team doesn't understand that his election was an aberration caused by the war in Iraq and a temporary financial storm, which generated a lot of anger at the Bush Administration and the GOP. The democrats don't understand that his win was not any kind of a mandate for socialism, major upheaval in the health care system, gays in the military, or anything else. ZerO's win resulted from a temporary surge of anger at Bush and the GOP. The Obama team has wildly overplayed its hand so far and the democrats will pay a heavy price for that in November.

Mr. Blow apparently has a personal problem, too.

Very true. I'm focused on actions and core values. Liberals always try to portray conservatives as rascist, sexist, and homophobic. That's their standard tactic from the liberal playbook. It's like the counter-gap play in football. They run that play over and over endlessly whether it works or not.

Apparently, China is to be a new owner. China has been given eminent domain rights:

http://www.examiner.com/x-2304-DC-Republican-Examiner~y2009m2d27-Impeachment-Time—Obama-Grants-Eminent-Domain-Rights-to-China-to-Secure-Debt

Also, administration is establishing salary caps...this can lead to slavery really quickly and has a connection to the healthcare plan:

Individual slaves had and have in todays’ black-market slave markets an assigned market value. Surely the libs (Dems) are thinking, “why not assign work values salary caps based on job descriptions to all employees also? Self-employment should be destroyed as well”...just as it is being for solo MDs now. It may be anticipated that all of the rest of us will follow that model. Salary caps are the same thing as slave commodity market valuations, and, in our society will be a way of commoditizing human labor value. Such labor can be securitized too, just like prime and subprime mortgages. Will Gore, Obama and allies form a Chicago Labor Securitization Exchange also? It is possible that a national labor market using securitizations for trading purposes can be established following the model of the Obama, et al, founded, Chicago Carbon Futures Exchange? Imagine, your labor value assumed and regulated and traded on a world-wide basis, just as mortgages!!! You will not know who owns your contract!! Healthcare will be accorded to your worth and longevity in the workFARCE. Expect nothing on your discharge from the workFARCE. Just thinking.

State Department shot down that rumor:

The State Department says there is "no factual basis" to an Internet rumor that went viral over the weekend claiming Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was willing to pledge American homes to China as collateral for Beijing buying U.S. debt.

I think you've just stated the rebuttal for 99% percent of Americans, whether they support or oppose the bill.

Mr. Blow doesn't really care: this was his too-clever-by-half way of demonstrating that anyone who opposes socialism is de facto misogynist, homophobic and antisemitic. It's called reaching, but I think he just pulled his arm out of his socket.

How can that be a “shot-down rumor”? The treasury’s balance sheet is full of mortgages on US homes. It remains all they can pledge.
