The majority of it indigestible.

How about the following? Do you agree with that?

Postponing, or suspending, the midterm election...would be the spark that ignites a firestorm that will consume all in its path.

If you knew he was a fraud, would you support him and assume his policies should remain in effect??

I think your implications were clear enough.

Not in this area. They said it is coming back in June — forgotten the date. I watch it on USA. (cable) Is it on a different channel? I’ve watched every episode at least 3 times. LOL

However, there is nothing fraudulent here except maybe his BC. He is the president, he has signed laws. The laws are valid as it relates to being signed and not dependent on his age, citizenship, illegal voting etc.

Are you saying that even if it is revealed that is not a natural born citizen or maybe even a citizen at all, the laws he signed are still valid??

My read is that once the president is elected, there is no longer an eligibility issue because he is already the president.

That is a crazy statement. If some illegal alien can trick his way by fraud, deceit, bribery, blackmail and forged documents into the presidency, and is found out, he’s in like flynn? Ollie ollie in free? Ha ha?

That’s really a crazy statement.

Probably because he holds Indonesian citizenship. According to Sven Magnussen, that’s the case. And his comments are quite compelling. Check them out.

And those of us who were tolling the alarm bell and called “nut job” will eventually be vindicated.

Amen.

Okay, then we are in agreement, I think, that there is some remedy if a sitting president is found to be ineligible. If the defect is not curable (such as waiting for his next birthday), he would have to be removed from office somehow, even if just declared legally incompetent for office.

You second point is exactly what I’m advocating. This is ridiculous that the country has had these questions swirling — and it will only become more common in the future as people all over the world are more mobile and marry people from different countries and so on. There should be a law defining how to prove a person is fully qualified, a process for evaluating that and certifying it, a procedure for challenging the certification, and a remedy for cases in which the person ultimately is found ineligible.

It is not rocket science. I mean, can you believe in the 21st century the question of whether or not a president-elect is a U.S. citizen essentially is left up to the political parties? You can be damn straight that no one in the House actually asked for any sort of documentary evidence to review themselves.

When? Answer is simple, when the State-run media is no longer run by the STATE, and the people who work for the State-run media acquire some gonads and go after the REAL
story.

The first is what exactly does natural born citizen mean when applied to a president.

Just wanted to say I also brought this up in a separate post. While there is caselaw that uses "natural-born citizen" and "citizenship based on place of birth" interchangeably,

(1) that can cut both ways (it could mean the SCOTUS thought they were the same thing or it could mean the SCOTUS wasn't carefully distinguishing the two because any distinction was not material to that particular case), and

(2) there is still the argument that in making its NBC rulings, the SCOTUS never explicitly considered NBC as applied to a president.

Again, if the SC began to veto laws because of a president’s lack of authority we would have a SC that would be claiming authority of a power reserved solely to the House.

I don't believe this would EVER happen, even if by some unbelievable convergence of events the SCOTUS found the POTUS ineligible to serve.

First, I don't think the SCOTUS would ever declare that a particular president was ineligible. That is a finding of fact and I think they would avoid that so far as possible. If it came to that, I think they would lay out a holding that, if/once applied by Congress, would make clear that the person was ineligible. It would be up to Congress to apply the Supreme Court's ruling, make the finding of ineligibility, and then take action to remove the ineligible person.

Secondly, even if they did declare a sitting president ineligible, at most they would likely give dicta as to how that impacted his actions while in office. They would not start vetoing laws or overturning treaties! At the minimum, Congress would first have the chance to more or less get everything done by the ineligible dude blanket-ratified by the new dude.

I am confident even if it came to this crossroads, the SCOTUS would be as deferential as possible to the legislative branch.

OK, please put me on the White Collar Ping list. If there’s not one, you need to start it. My dad got me started watching it, and I’ve tried to keep up, but I get behind. I’ve watched episodes I missed on www.hulu.com , and I’ve been checking them out on Tuesday nights on USA. I saw the “Music Box “ episode, apparently it was the last one. I thought it was one of the first of a new series! I think I’ve seen them all, but not sure. And I’m definitely out of the loop.
