You won’t ever be sorry. She can use it and so can you. My version has a bobbed hammer. You will only ever fire it double action anyway, so for a “pocket pistol” a cut down hammer is a plus. Why spend 100s more for a S&W when a Charter Arms will do just as well?
Well, I wouldn't know. I've only ever owned automatics (and rifles).
Well, I did have a little .22 revolver I gave my kid brother once, but I know those aren't terribly useful -- just better than nothing at all, which was what he and his wife owned in the way of handguns at the time.
I'm also told, regarding shotguns, that when one has married a smurf (he says of Mrs. C_C, jokingly), the 20-gauge is preferable to the 12. I've only ever used 12s myself, but will be looking for a good 20. Once I resolve our present revolver deficiency, that is.
I was thinking of getting a new pistol soon. Thanks for the info, I’ll look into it as I was thinking of getting the new .38 S&W Bodyguard. I’m a woman and right now have a Colt .357, Ruger .380 LCP and an old Browning .22 pistol. I didn’t realize the .380 ammo was so hard to find when I bought it. Just got my carry permit a few weeks ago.
RE Revolvers:
I picked up a used SW 642 .38spl as my BUG for $325.00 a few years ago. I carry a G19 Glock on the hip as my main piece (sometimes use a shoulder rig), with the 642 (generally) in the glove box or in the small-of-back. It’s “hammerless” and has no snag points, so it’s a nice easy carry with two speedloaders.
It barks a bit, because it’s lightweight, but it will do the job and serves as a second sidearm for anyone with me. Wife shoots it well.
Also have an old SW Mod 36 “Chief Special” with hammer and large grips...also a nice shooter.
(Nothing against Charter Arms, Travis - I’ve just never had one...)
Hope that helps!
