Sarah Palin is refusing to be tied down by the Republican National Committee, days after the committee was found to have spent donors' money at an erotic, bondage-themed club.
The former Alaska governor has asked the RNC to remove her name from an official invite to a New Orleans fundraiser next week, even though she'll be in the Big Easy for a separate GOP event.
The one-time Republican vice presidential nominee "will not take part in any RNC fundraiser in New Orleans," an aide told Politico.com.
The apparent snub comes days after federal disclosure forms showed the RNC spent nearly $2,000 earlier this year at Voyeur, a high-end, West Hollywood club known for its nearly naked staffers and live S&M acts.
Aides to Palin insisted her refusal to appear at the New Orleans event had nothing to do with the Voyeur scandal.
But fallout from the GOP's risque business expense has continued to roil the party.
Many big givers are said to be re-directing their cash away from the RNC and its chairman, Michael Steele - who has been under fire for months for lavish spending - and toward the party's more austere Senate and House campaign funds.
Internally, the RNC also axed the staffer who led the expedition to Voyeur, Allison Meyers. It was Meyers who got the RNC to reimburse the GOP reveler stuck with the evening's $1,946 tab.
Meyers headed the RNC's Young Eagles program, a fundraising effort aimed at the under-45 crowd which has also been suspended in the wake of the scandal.
All Young Eagle events - including a swank steeplechase event in Virginia's horse country - have been cancelled pending a review, according to an e-mail from a top RNC official obtained by Politico.

I Can’t blame her for that.
I don’t think it’s a big deal (the “scandal”) but I support her silent statement that she won’t play ball with them unless they get their act sorted out.
I like her style. She might be tied with unholy fetters to McCain, but she can tell the RNC to take a hike. And McCain might be next!
Steele should resign. The RNC tried to hide the embarrassment and failed.
We gotta clean out the GOP before we clean out the gov’t in general.

If there is any weakness to the Republicans it would be the many skeletons in the closets of their most viable candidates.
There used to be a time when Mark Sanford was considered a viable candidate to be either VP or POTUS. Look what’s happened since ? The Jack Abramoff lobbying scandals was a major factor behind the lost of the House in 2006. Is the GOP going to commit political suicide again ?
If this goes on, it would not matter how good your policies are, people will just grow sick and tired of your party as no different from the Dems.

Hold on, the NY Daily is taking liberties, i posted the politico story about her not wanting her name on the fundraiser because she didnt say that she was going to that down in NO.......this report claims that she refuse because of the scandal, now maybe she doesnt like whats going on with this sex scandal, but no one associated with her ever said that this was the reason why......

Though Palin will speak on Friday at the SRLC, a gathering of top Republican officials and an early cattle call for potential 2012 presidential candidates, the former Alaska governor will not be participating in any RNC fundraising event, a Palin adviser told CNN.
Palin's staff has twice asked the RNC to remove her name from the invitation, the adviser said, adding that the request had nothing to do with the nightclub controversy currently making headlines.
The RNC has organized a four-day fundraising effort around the New Orleans conference titled "Pachyderms on the Pontchartrain," according to a donor invitation obtained by Politico on Wednesday.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Sen. Rick Santorum have committed to appear at one of the RNC events, but the agenda also boasts several "invited speakers" - including Palin, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour - who do not appear to have confirmed their attendance. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is listed as an invited speaker, but Pawlenty said last week he is skipping the New Orleans conference.
The RNC did not immediately respond when asked if they will take Palin's name off the agenda.
Sarah had never accepted along with several others and simply asked to be taken off the invite list. ABC has reported this as a schism between Sarah and the RNC. I think the ABC reporter has an agenda.
A staffer taking some people to a club cannot possibly make the republicans no different than the democrats.

I for one am very happy of her decision, who needs to be tied to scandals and corruption in BOTH parties. I hope she gets the nomination, wins and appoints some really good house cleaners that will really go after the all the slime balls that are on the committees. The left doesn’t understand why she appeals to the general public as much as she does. We don’t care if Russia can not be seen from her front door, or if her daughter carried her child, she fights corruption, really supports our armed forces, loves her country, momma and apple pie, and that’s all that matters. Gee, she doesn’t want to be with the RINO crowd? Duhhh!

Right......this article nowhere quotes anybody close to Sarah saying the reason she wants off the fundraiser is because of the sex scandal....This is the reason newspapers are tabloid trash in most people eyes....They wanted to pimp Palin’s name because it generates traffic on their website and then they spice it up with false reporting....
