Congressman Walz (D-Mn) Discusses New Health Care Law(A Promise to Make Changes)

While he looks forward to the bill's largest aspects starting up in 2014, not everything he wanted made it into the bill.

Congressman Walz says, "I said there were a few lines in the sand needed in order for me to support it. It had to have pay-for-value..."

Pay for value refers to geographic disparities in Medicare payments; for example, hospitals in Minnesota will receive significantly less for doing a procedure than a hospital in New York for doing the exact same thing.

That goal, however, is notably absent from the new law.

In its place are 800 million dollars to offset some of the discrepancy, and a promise by the Obama administration to make changes to the practice by the end of 2012. Walz says he feels it is for the best.

Walz says, "Sometimes those absolutely rigid legislative fixes don't allow for implementation in the real world. So I'm comfortable that they did this. I'm comfortable they understand it."

Walz couldn't even hold, and his judgment once again sides with poor legislation like in the Stimulus bill

Statement from Walz’s Congressional Office

http://www.bluestemprairie.com/a_bluestem_prairie/2009/01/walz-votes-for-stimulus-bill.html
This legislation will create and save 3 to 4 million jobs, rebuilding America,

making us more globally competitive and energy independent, and transforming our economy for long-term growth;
give 95% of American workers an immediate tax cut; and invest quickly in the economy –
with 75% spent in the first 18 months.
What’s exciting is that southern Minnesotans can benefit greatly from this strategy.

Experts say more than 90 percent of the jobs created will be in the private sector.” added Walz.

Gee, let's just see how that Stimulus bill measured up, Blue Dog?

Isn’t that what the Mayo Clinic wanted? Hope they don’t mind getting “significantly less”

An anti-Walz, presumably pro-Republican group called Minnesota Majority has run attack ads in the P-B over the past few weeks that portray Walz as a blue-faced lapdog of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In his own words, that may be fairly accurate

Congressman Walz says, “I said there were a few lines in the sand needed in order for me to support it. It had to have pay-for-value...”

Then why didn’t it?

I said there were a few lines in the sand needed in order for me to support it. It had to have pay-for-value . . .

This is typical of the ultimate conceit of our Congress-clowns. These lawyer dirtbags think they can succeed where no government has ever succeeded, ie delivering high quality, low cost healthcare through government diktats.

This is an easy site and free to contact your reps on behalf of the military and veterans.
VFW Legislative Alert: Take Action!

Protect VA and DOD Health Care Now

VFW Legislative Alert: Protect VA and DOD Health Care Now
The VFW is leading the fight to ensure all DOD and VA healthcare programs are recognized as meeting minimum essential coverage standards under the new national healthcare law, but we still need your help.
Urge your Representatives and Senators to pass legislation that will protect VA Health Care and Tricare benefits for veterans and our active duty members.

**The U.S. House of Representatives needs to support S. 3162, which was introduced by Senate VA Committee Chairman Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) to protect VA healthcare programs. It passed the Senate unanimously on March 26.

**The U.S. Senate needs to support S. 3148, which was introduced by Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee Chairman Jim Webb (D-Va.) to protect all military Tricare programs as well as non-appropriated fund health plans. S. 3148 is a companion bill to H.R. 4887, which was introduced by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) and approved March 20 by a vote of 403-0.

It is critical that you call, write or email your thoughts on this most important issue. If we work together we can make sure that the new law does not adversely affect our veterans, servicemembers or their families. Take Action Today!

If this “health”care bill is so wonderful, why do they have to change it?

hospitals in Minnesota will receive significantly less for doing a procedure than a hospital in New York for doing the exact same thing.

Because Walz let his constituents take-home less pay, Pelosi can brag about CBO numbers. There are many more Congressional Representatives with 'hospitals that will receive significantly less' that also let it slide

Yep, that ‘pay for value’ is going to cheat a lot of folks here out of wages they’ve worked hard for. Competition for being accepted into some of the advanced schooling takes straight A’s, let alone getting a degree
