At a raucous, campaign-style speech in Portland, Maine, President Barack Obama criticized Republicans who want to repeal the new health care law–but he also took aim at pundits and journalists eager to sum up public opinion on the measure.
Every day there is another headline declaring that the nation is still divided over health care, or that polls, which show opposition to the measure, haven’t changed, he said.
“It’s only been a week,” he told the supportive, packed crowd. “Can you imagine if some of these reporters were working on a farm? You planted some seeds, and they came out the next day, and they looked, and nothing’s happened! There’s no crop! We’re going to starve! Oh, no! It’s a disaster!”
He added: “Before we find out if people like health care reform, we should wait to see what happens when we actually put it into place. Just a thought.”
The decision to head to Maine has some political significance as well. It’s the home state of Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, centrists who have worked with the White House in the past and whose support Obama could need in the future.

Just because Obama's monster plant hasn't sprouted yet doesn't mean we don't know he's growing a voracious, bloodthirsty monster.

The objective is to disallow the damned HCR to be put into place as we all know what a disaster it is, and should it become in place how long it will take to get rid of it, if ever.

Well, Mr. President, sticking with your analogy, the huge write-offs by some of our largest corporations is like a gully washer hitting right after all the seeds were planted, washing them away...so maybe the correct reaction is: "...Oh, no! It’s a disaster!”
