MSNBC ^ | April 2, 2010

Posted on 04/02/2010 6:12:47 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Kaiser Health News checked out some of the most common claims:

1. Comparative effectiveness research will lead to the rationing of care for the elderly.

Verdict? Not true.

2. Cuts in the Medicare Advantage plans under the health care overhaul "will cause massive disruption for the more than 10 million seniors" and many of them will lose coverage.

Verdict? Partially true.

3. The IRS will be hiring thousands of new agents to check that people have health insurance and people who don't will be sent to jail.

Verdict? Mostly not true.

4. When health care reform kicks in, consumers will have longer waits to see a primary care doctor.

Verdict? Partially true.

5. The new health law will end TRICARE and force military families to buy different insurance.

Verdict? Not true.

6. Federal government employees will be forced to switch their health insurance coverage and participate in the exchanges.

Verdict? Mostly not true.

7. Illegal immigrants will get free health care.

Verdict? Mostly not true.

The number of qualifying adjectives in this article leads me to believe that even the writer doesn’t believe the tripe he or she is dispensing to the masses.

At some point all of the lies from the MSM and Obama will become evident and undeniable. That’s when they’ll go into “cornered cat” mode and claw the hell out of the American public.

8. MSNBC gives an accurate assessment of Obama Care.

Entirely untrue.

Nice, we never said they'd be sent to jail. But, funny how they don't mention the fact that over 17k will be hired, and you CAN be fined.

“1. Comparative effectiveness research will lead to the rationing of care for the elderly.

How Clintonian. It will result in rationing for everyone, not just the elderly, so depending on what your definitions are, the statement in 1 is “false”.

Let’s run that question again as
1. Comparative effectiveness research will lead to the rationing of care.

True, or not?

There are several other cases of wordsmithing to get the correct answer.

I stopped reading where it said ‘MSNBC’. Not going to get anything resembling credible information from this source.

Notice how they take the truth and sprinkle in a lie to discredit it.

Example.
3. The IRS will be hiring thousands of new agents to check that people have health insurance and people who don’t will be sent to jail.

Yes, the government will hire thousands of new agents to verify insurance coverage.
But, I’ve never heard a single person mention jail.
MSNBC adds that in, so they can claim “Mostly not true”.

You can be fined, and the plan contains provisions to give the IRS direct access to your bank accounts. Thus, the fine can be deducted by the IRS as soon as it is levied.

So five of the seven are true. I think #1 is true as well.

Most likely they will just administratively sieze tax refunds, bank accounts and paychecks. They want us out in the fields working for them, not beaten so badly that we can't work. Exceptions will be made for those who try to escape or help others to escape.

Even if MSNBC were correct in their assessment, that’s a static snapshot of today. As we all know, we can trust the government to not accrete even more power over our lives and leave well enough alone. No matter how things turn out and whatever “improvements” the government makes, hings could NOT POSSIBLY get worse than they are in the bill.

Have faith, Citizens! Your government knows what is best for you.

#5. There is no language in the law that protects Tricare. Separate legislation has been proposed that would preserve Tricare, but at the moment, there is nothing anywhere that would prevent its’ elimination.

Obama can joke all he wants about the fact that his signing of the bill didn’t bring on Armageddon... and how that day was like just another sunny spring day.

However, Greece didn’t go bankrupt the very minute that their lawmakers signed the laws that would eventually lead to their demise either!

The UK did not explode when they established their socialized medicine program. It took decades for the damage to become apparent... and now it’s probably too late for them to save themselves.

Obamacare is not like a heart attack. It is a malignant cancer that starts almost silently, mutating cells one by one until it spreads throughout the entire body... once you realize the damage it has done... death (to our economy, our health and our freedom) is imminent.

Oh, the arrogance of Obama and the stupidity of all those who follow him!

It doesn’t end Tricare and it makes Tricare an acceptable health ins plan.

But a earlier DOD bill slapped ‘modest’ new fees on Tricare For Life the over 65 retired Military’s health ins. I don’t call $525 up front, a raise in RX co-pays and a $2,888 cost sharing a ‘modest’ fee (double that if you are a couple)! The Army & Navy Times in a 2009 article said they were deferred until 2011, that 0 promised to repeal them....don’t hold your breath. Because no matter how many times I’ve searched google I’ve not found where the new ‘modest’ fees were repealed.

Remember the old ‘Stroke of the Pen, Law of the Land”? Tricare especially Tricare For Life can be merged with Medicare quite easily, as they are both administered out of the same agency.

Impact of Medicare Reimbursement Rate Decrease on TRICARE

http://www.tricare.mil

On March 3, Congress passed emergency legislation delaying the 21.2 percent decrease in Medicare reimbursement rates for an additional 30 days. The TRICARE Management Activity greatly appreciates Congress’ swift action as it allowed more time to fully evaluate the impact the decrease in Medicare reimbursement rates will have on the TRICARE program.

Whatever the outcome, TRICARE will take at least 30 days to fully understand the impact on TRICARE and take appropriate action. While federal law requires TRICARE reimbursement rates to be equal to Medicare rates to the extent practical, the law does permit TRICARE to make exceptions to ensure an adequate network of providers or to eliminate a situation of severely impaired access to care.

More information about this legislation and its impact on TRICARE will be posted on the TRICARE.mil website as soon as it becomes available.
