(LEAD) N. Korea accuses South of armed provocation in DMZ

(ATTN: UPDATES throughout with S. Korea's response)

SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) -- North Korea claimed Sunday that the South Korean military "committed grave armed provocation" in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) dividing the two countries, but military officials here denied the accusation.

The North's official news agency, KCNA, reported that a group of South Korean soldiers intruded into the eastern section of the DMZ around 2:07 p.m. and fired 90mm recoilless guns toward a civil police post in the North, "thus seriously threatening the safety of civil policemen of the north side on routine duty." "This was a premeditated provocation of the south Korean puppet forces designed to deliberately aggravate the situation in the DMZ of the Military Demarcation Line," it said.

They need to whip up nationalism and anti ROK sentiment within the DPRK while the Chia Pet is in Northeast China heading to Beijing with Kim Jong un, to forestall a coup d'etat whle he and the annointed successor, aka "The Kid", are away from Pyongyang on a rare foreign trip.

It is a high risk game if you ask me. Very provocative. But in a way, stepping into his eight inch heeled boots and seeing it from his perspective, the Chia Pet has little choice, he is skating on such thin ice as it is. My take.

All those people trying to strike a grand bargain must be deeply saddened. It is they who deserve torpedoes from Yugo-class NK mini-sub.

SK hasn't done anything yet. They are still searching and investigating.

NK must be on a roll. They are most likely to have sunk SK frigate, and now go for ground provocation without missing a beat.

It was a September day in Poland , when Polish provocateurs fired on a German radio station, thus starting WW2... or so the Nazi’s would have had the world believe.
Someone in NK must have read a history book.

What is the point of dealing with these petulant children? Oh yeah, they have nuclear weapons.

I hope that, at the end of this long-running saga, we would storm into Pyongyang, and find half-charred body of Chia Head on the ground near his underground bunker, next to charred remains of the mistress of his latest flavor.

Do you think this is NoKo playing “Wag the Dog”, and manufacturing an armed crisis to arise the people against, in order to serve as a distraction to their collapsing economy?? If you whip everyone up against the South, that keeps them from getting whipped up against Kim...

If “civilized” countries like the PIIGS are in deep financial straits, one can only imagine how bad things are deep inside Kim’s little Magic Kingdom...

What worries me is that NoKo has already opened fire, and I still see no indication from the US that they even acknowledge there is a serious problem at hand over there.
