They might have gotten unruly, but at least they weren’t smoking.

I used to work at One Penn Plaza which (one one side of the building) constitutes most of the block on 34th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues, where apparently two shootings took place.

For the benefit of non-New Yorkers .. Rush Limbaugh used to, and (I believe) Sean Hannity still does, broadcast their radio shows from Two Penn Plaza. The heart of Penn Plaza is, of course, Penn Station, where many travelers would have been returning or departing following family holiday time.

And, as movie classics viewers can appreciate, Macy’s is on the corner of 34th and 7th Avenue. It is few feet to the grandstand where we watch the performers every year at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

This is a business district, close enough to Times Square, and is NOT a ‘hood.’ These thugs probably took the subway to get to Times Square purposely to create mayhem.

As usual and in spite of Bloomberg’s ignorance, it’s the social production of thugs that spawns murderous violence, not the manufacturing production of guns.

Add some hookers, pick pockets, aggressive panhandlers and its the good old days.
Not to worry, Bloomberg is going to ban salt and all will be safe.

Easter Sunday, which has become known in certain circles as “Gang Initiation Day.”

Good grief....I learn something new every day.

According to the article, the local merchants seemed rather satisfied with the police response.

Apparently, for the past 5 years, the sick thugs have turned Easter Sunday night into some sort of gang iniation night, but the police have responded robustly, but had their hands full last night.

Of course, if law abiding citizens were allowed to excercise their 2nd Amendment rights, and carry hand guns, these thugs would behave themselves, knowing their chances of running into someone carrying a concealed weapon is high.

Pretty amazing that 4 people were shot in a “gun free city” last night. I’m sure all the thugs they arrested will do far less time than Plaxico Burress is doing for accidently shooting himself.

...marauded through Times Square and nearby streets last night, storming businesses and harrassing pedestrians as three people were shot in possibly related violence. Hundreds of cops struggled to disperse the youths.
