“If you are a mainstream Christian or a Jew, you need not apply to Opt Out of ObamaCare; that exemption is reserved for Muslims, Scientologists, Amish, Christian Scientists and Native American Indians who have a “conscientious objection” to insurance. “

Does this mean I can declare I’ve found Amishness and opt out? I can pack up and move to Amish Country in a heartbeat.

I understand that these organizations, are health sharing type plans that do allow CHRISTIANS to opt out. My family will find out what is going to happen to our health care in October, at the latest. We are seriously considering the following organizations. I have had Freepers comment on the first one as being the best of the three. I have no experience with any of them.

Whatever happened to:

"Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...."?

My question is this: how many of those who will be exempt for religious reasons make up the “35 million uninsured” we keep hearing about? Prsumably none of them have had insurance up to now, since they do not believe in it. So how many will continue to be uninsured due to religious reasons?

Dear Mr. President,

I have just become "Amish", please exempt me from obamacare.

Thanks,

PS# I will provide proof that I'm Amish when you provide proof you're a NBC.

If you opt out, does that mean you don’t pay the penalty for not getting a health insurance policy, and then if you get sick you can instantly opt in and instantly receive benefits. Crazy stuff!

This should be the basis for overturning ObamaCare...as it is the government recognizing some religions over others....the Liberals “Seperation of Church and State”

This is not true. Christian Scientists cannot opt out...our leadership has communicated this to all our members. Please correct this fallacy.

When they need it, they simply apply for insurance. The insurance company cannot deny them.

Of course, under shariah law they may then be sentenced to be beheaded or stoned to death or whatever.

Perhaps something needs to be clarified here. In the case of “opting-out” of benefits, does this also remove your obligation to support the program with your taxes?

My suspicion is no, and if this is the case you may be cutting off your nose to spite your face. You might still have to come up with all the bucks to support everyone else, but you cut yourself out of the benefits. Sure, you’re maintaining your principles, but your also getting screwed on your taxes.

Just askin’ the question.

Oh yeah, since I’m 1/4 Indian, do I have the option based on my “ethnic extraction”? If so, it will be the first time in my life I ever found it make any difference one way or the other. I’ve told folks I’d swap it for a lift ticket, but so far no takers. :-)

I am going to look into the new Amish/Islamist sect. All the exemptions you could ever want. They do use “horse bombs” however, which really s*cks for the horse.

I don’t know about the other groups, but the Amish already have an exemption in place for Social Security. You can read the story here: http://www.amishnews.com/amisharticles/amishss.htm

“Tucked into the 138 page bill was a clause exempting the Old Order Amish, and any other religious sect who conscientiously objected to insurance, from paying Social Security payments, providing that sect had been in existence since December 31, 1950.”

I would think there are constitutional grounds to challenge this law’s restriction to groups that have been in existence since 1950. It seems to be a law “respecting” certain religions over others if they make a distinction based on the age of the group.

I’m also curious if there is a similar exemption in the health care bill for ministers. Ministers can opt out of Social security on an individual exemption on wages paid by a church.

Native Americans have their own healthcare plan ... http://www.ihs.gov. They do not have to opt out of anything.

I totally agree mware. Catholics should be exempt. Through taxes, the Government forces us to contribute to the practice of abortion.

I don’t think they’re actually against abortion, they just do it differently...I think they call them “honour killings”.
