Lieutenant Colonel Brian Christmas -- the commander of US Marines in northern Marjah -- said he was unaware of the musical psy ops.

"It's inappropriate," he told AFP, mindful that a major part of the counter-insurgency plan is focused on winning over Afghans from the insurgents.

"I'm going to ask this to stop right now."

I don't like this guy. If the music works then blast it! If the Afghan people want us to fight for them then they can deal with the music.

Note that the locals “don’t like” the music but they are FEARFUL of the death threats left by the Taliban.

We may not be seen as “buddies”, but the locals don’t seem to see us as the threat in their lives.

I’d go old school on them. Led Zep, The WHO, the Floyd. There are some particular selections that would raise the hair on Attila the Huns neck if they can give it enough volume. It would all be brand new over there. I wouldn’t play it all the time though. Just crank it up when they’re opening a can of whoop ass. In fact the rest of the time they should continuously play Slim Whitman and Streisand. Keep them nauseated.
