It’s worth reading the comments below the article at the web site. Some of them appear to be well informed.

It would seem that hard times and lack of funds forced the closing. Several comments say that it would have closed a year earlier if the Legionaries had not agreed to take it over.

The Legionaries of Christ are a traditional Catholic group with conservative views. Their problem is that their founder appears to have been a bad apple. I don’t know how you can have what seems to be a good religious order founded by a bad apple, but that seems to be the case. Presumably the Vatican investigation has not finished, and there may be others in the order who were implicated or who knew about the problem but kept silent. But from what I have seen, most of those in the order are good people who are going through a very hard time because of the scandal of their founder.

Very sad.

Of course, many who would have donated to this school were forced by the taxation authorities to “donate” to atheist gov’t schools.
