Unemployment today doesn't look like any unemployment in the recent American experience. We have the astonishing and dispiriting new reality that the "long-term jobless"—people out of work more than six months (27 weeks)—was about 44% of all people unemployed in February. A year ago that number was 24.6%.
This is not normal joblessness. As The Wall Street Journal reported in January, even when the recovery comes, some jobs will never return.

There are more conservative young people than you think. My daughter (23) voted for McCain/Palin and so did almost all of her friends. One of her friends said his friends who did vote for Obama were sorry they did.
My daughter graduated from college last May with a BS in business adm. She is now working on her masters. Can’t find a job. She has 4 years experience in bookkeeping, office assistant and customer service manager. There just aren’t nearly enough jobs out there for everyone who is looking and a lot of well-paying manufacturing jobs are gone and never coming back. The middle class will continue to shrink and more people will be dependent on the government for all sorts of things. It isn’t looking good from my vantage point.
Generation Y is one spoiled and pampered generation.
Some one will need to explain to these young aristocrats that one does not graduate from college with a degree in anthropology and immediately land a 6 figure job in corporate America.
Many of us started out of college delivering pizza, temping, working p/t loading trucks at UPS yet those of us who showed initiative ended owning the pizza franchise or are running the business we once temped.
Life’ realities are not fair nor are they easy and there is nothing the government can do to change either one.
I know of one rabid obamabot, college student, who after graduating last year, is having a very difficult time find a job. The best job offer he has received is a $25,000 a year job. Which, OF COURSE, is beneath him and his education.
But better get used to it young obamabots cause the “hope and change” was NEVER about taking care of YOU.

I hate Obama just as much as the next guy, but just so you know, both parties believe and practice Keynesian Economics. If you want to get rid of the out off control spending, you have to get rid of the Federal Reserve.

I was in Ocean City Maryland last summer and noticed that the majority of the young workers in the shops on the boardwalk were Russian. I had a chance to speak with the mayor of Ocean City while in town, and I asked him why there were so many Russian young people working the shops. His reply was that the city "goes to Russia and actively recruits them." His reason was that it was difficult to get American youth to take the jobs as they either felt the work was beneath them or their parents insisted they NOT work during the summer, as they felt it was the child's "time off" from school and that they shouldn't spend it working.

Considering what most college students “study” these days, does that really surprise you? I was in Engineering. I’ve been out of work for six weeks out of the last 28 years.

About Ocean City kids working,,there is no way in hell I would allow a kid of mine to work there. It is non stop sex, drugs and rock and roll all summer for them and is not a good place to work.
But in Florida, I noticed many foreign kids who were lifeguards, beach guys etc. ANd going skiing in Colorado, all the kids working the lifts, buses etc, at hotel were foreign. Alot of New Zealanders.
Your kids and her friends are not the norm....MOST KIDS VOTED FOR OBAMA....LET THEM SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!!
