During the past few months we have witnessed a sorry spectacle of lawmaking within the U.S. Congress. House Democrats were meeting for the purpose of approving a Senate Health Care Reform Bill. Moderate members appeared to be wrestling with their conscience, liberal members were whining for more entitlements, and some appeared oblivious to the bills contents.
The monstrous Senate Health Care Reform Bill (over 2000 pages) was crafted by Senate Democrats behind closed doors, without Republican participation, passed by Democrat votes and then presented to the House of Representatives for approval. The bill was terribly flawed, very confusing and, essentially, a shoddy piece of rushed legislation.
The Democrat Senators did not heed the voice of the public (overwhelming opposition to the bill) nor did they show any concern about the bill impact on the medical profession, on large corporations or the general economy. They chose to respond to the tawdry machinations of the Senate Majority Leader, The King of Earmarks. Harry Reid played Name Your Deal and corrupted enough wavering Senators to compromise their principles for personal gain (the Cornhusker caper, the Louisiana Purchase, The Florida Rail project on & on in the dark of night). He did ultimately garner enough votes with the help of billions of taxpayer dollars required to fund his deals.
When the Senate sent the bill to the House for approval the debate began. House Republicans were united and steadfastly opposed Obamacare because they understand the cost ramifications on the national debt; also their superb recommendations to include tort reform and making health insurance available across state lines were ignored.
Initially there were enough Democrat votes to kill the bill, however the Speaker cajoled threatened and bribed enough members who again (in a whoring mode) placed personal gain over principle.

“very confusing, and essentially, a shoddy piece of legislation.”
Nah. More like a perfect piece of legislation that satisfies the whims and wiles of Democrat commissars now populating congress.
IMHO
The very fact that the Democrats approved using Deem and Pass to avoid taking a vote on this Bill offends me to the core! Not to the corpse — to the core!
