Former KSFO morning host Lee Rodgers has never endorsed a candidate for Senate before. But the conservative thinks OC Assemblyman Chuck DeVore is the man for him in the US Senate race. At least that's what it sort of sounds like in his blog. The only thing that would be better for DeVore is if Uncle Lee lived in California and could cast a ballot; he's camped out in Arizona.
"Carly Fiorina has a background in the big-time corporate world and a bulging campaign war-chest. Chuck DeVore brings a record of principled conservatism in the state legislature.
"Has the prototype for this sort of match-up been seen before? Let us recall State Sen. (now congressman) Tom McClintock versus Arnold Schwarzenegger in the race to replace Gov. Gray Davis. The battle cry of the Republican moderates was, 'Only a moderate like Arnold can win.'
"Win he did. And what did Republican party actually win? A RINO (Republican in name only) who sold out on virtually every principle for which he and his party ostensibly stand, including fiscal responsibility. One need only look at the financial ruin that is California today to recognize that Arnold makes Gray Davis look like Calvin Coolidge, by comparison.
"This is not to say that Carly Fiorina would follow the time-dishonored path of other RINOs. But a surer bet not to be another John McCain in the Senate is Chuck DeVore. DeVore's military background is as intelligence officer. That commodity has been seriously lacking in the GOP."
We asked Uncle Lee if that constituted an endorsement. Replied Lee: "I believe it speaks for itself, although either should be an improvement over Babsie."
In perhaps a related story, Rodgers old KSFO co-host Melanie Morgan has resurfaced -- as part of DeVore's press team.

Too bad. He was never afraid of speaking his mind and going off occasionally.
DeVore, Campbell debate without Boxer, Fiorina

Two Republicans hoping to replace Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer debated in her former home turf of Marin County on Wednesday, but the combatants in the only Senate primary debate scheduled for the Bay Area spent a lot of time talking about two women who weren’t there: Boxer and their GOP rival, Carly Fiorina.
Former South Bay Rep. Tom Campbell and Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, R-Irvine, both blasted Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO, for declining an invitation to attend.
Fiorina, who also skipped a debate last month in Southern California because she said she didn’t trust the moderator to be fair, spent the day campaigning in the Central Valley and Salinas, where she touted her endorsement by the 81,000-member California Farm Bureau. She plans to attend a televised debate next month in Los Angeles.
More likely she was afraid she would be asked why she destroyed HP.
So now it’s just O-V?
Melanie was at the Tea Party in Santa Clara in mid-March — she’s not hidden herself by any means.
Brian Sussman took over full-time. I think he’s doing a great job, although I miss Lee’s acerbic comments once in a while.
What happened to Lee?
Did Sussman garner so much audience he was shifted to the A.M?
The SussMan took over the slot, Ossifer Vic remains..
it would sound like a cost saving move,, but.. who knows.
Lee is likely pursuing legal avenues to recoup his forced retirement losses.
Hmmm...
I like Brian and as time goes on he is getting better.
Still, I liked Lee and Melonie.
Must say, one thing I miss about living in the area is the morning commute drive to Travis AFB over the Antioch bridge listening to Lee, Melanie and Ossifer Vic
Is that what happened? I enjoyed Lee's morning show on KSFO. I thought Lee and the other hosts were all under contracts. I can see failure to reach a contract renewal -- but fired?
Good for Melanie! Why is she no longer on the radio, btw?
another contract dispute supposedly a couple years back or a cost saving move is what abc offered, she was part of a wave of layoffs affecting quite a few markets.
He was a few months away from retiring, heck , he spent half his time traveling anyway.. ;-)
I wrote KSFO to inform them that I have ceased listening to their station altogether. It's KSCO and KNEW for now.
Wonder if he’s doing a local gig out of his home in AZ. Anyway, good for him. I’m sure he’s not crying about KSFO. He knows how to enjoy life!
He’s probably somewhere in a steambath in Japan or on a cruise ship. I’d like to run into him on a ship somewhere and buy him a drink or two.
Lovable Lee, a.k.a., Mr. Cranky Pants. :-)
A welcome and unexpected endorsement from the endorsement-shy Uncre Ree.
He’s liberated now.. not that that stopped him from going off before. lol
I miss him and Jim Eason.. I’d love to see what Herb Caen thinks of Obama too.
