Bravery isn't the first word that comes to mind when looking at these images of a Japanese log-rolling ceremony.
But that is exactly what these young men are apparently proving during the bizarre Ki-otoshi ceremony, where they ride the giant logs as they are yanked down steep hills by ropes.

“Young men prove their bravery by riding giant logs......”
Bansai! (pun intended)
Stupidity is when you ride one just because your buddies do.
Yup that pretty much sums it up right there, except the choice of drink is a bit different.
“Hey y’all, hold mah beer, watch this! ...”
< insert horrible fate here >
Why am I suspecting mass quantities of alcohol are consumed in connection with this??
“Hold Muh Saki”
Could this possibly explain why the Toyota Prius has all those brake problems?
Barney Frank is neither young nor brave.
Lurfing????? (Log Surfing)
Well, epitomizes that boys will be boys.
Ahhh, our culture has lost so much, what with the young people not knowing how our loggers used to have contests “rolling logs”, or better known as log rolling. Two loggers got on a log, in the mill pond, and used the spikes on their boots to manipulate the log, attempting to knock the other guy into the water. It was dangerous and done for fun. Other loggers used to have to free up log jams on the rivers, risking their lives for a paycheck. The Japanese have nothing on Americans, except our guys did it for a living and they do it because the Saki takes hold!
I had to see this after reading about Liz Taylor’s latest wedding engagement...
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!??

LOL I believe the correct term in this context would be: “froating rogs.”
“What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
Rolls over your neighbor’s dog?

It’s Log, Log, Log!
It’s Log, Log, it’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood.
It’s Log, Log, it’s better than bad, it’s good!
Everyone wants a log! You’re gonna love it, Log!
Come on and get your log! Everyone needs a Log!”
