WASHINGTON -- Sen. John Ensign on Friday resisted calls for his resignation, saying he is trying to get back in the graces of constituents, friends and family amid investigations growing from his extramarital affair.
"I have learned a great deal from this and I am trying to become a better person, a better husband, a better father, a better friend and a better senator," Ensign said. "I am working hard to do that and that is what I am going to continue to try to do."

I have never understood why someone in the public’s eye would engage in extramarital affairs. Don’t they know that these things in all likelihood will be found out?
It seems that these men—and that’s the offending sex—just react to their positions of power, boosted by their small heads.
If Ensign forces a special election for his seat in 2010, it will help Reid’s re-election chances. I’d rather he stay out his term.
