The White House is disputing a report from one of Israel's leading newspapers that claims the Obama administration is denying visas to Israeli nuclear scientists.
The Israeli newspaper, Maariv, reported this week that the Obama administration has stopped issuing visas to scientists working at a nuclear research center in Dimona, citing a professor who doesn't work at the center.

I’d believe Ma’ariv before I’d believe anything from the Obama regime ...
They can't say that out in the open. ...just yet.
Absolutely! Not even a close call on that.
We’re going to neuter this regime in November.
How to publish the truth under a totalitarian regiem:
“Today the government denied rumors that...”
A few years back, I worked very close to DC. I worked in an agency out by Andrews Airforce base.
While there, I had an opportunity to work with a very nice fellow who came on as a salesman for our company. He was from Israel. A very nice guy, a hard worker; he had some cool stories of his service in the Israeli Army. He was relatively unskilled as a salesman, but he was not reliant on his commissions to make a living. His wife was a top scientist contracting for NIH. He was just puttering in ouir field and my boss was nice enough to bring him on and try to work with him on the basis that he could be trained to develop his own leads ad eventually become an effective salesman. The fellow, while unskilled was clearly very ambitious, a good team player and eager to succeed. I liked him immediately and did my best to help develop his presentations.
Previously, he had mostly been a stay at home father. Now both his young daughters had headed off to school.
He did not tell me directly, but through my conversations it became apparent that his wife was not your run of the mill scientists. Not that any may be “run of the mill” at NIH. However, his wife was among the very top echelon of scientists in the field of cancer research ~ in the world! She was one of the top.
This fellow informed me that the executive branch of our government made he and his wife sign a document that they would not use the opportunity at NIH to become a US citizen.
One day, my friend came in, he was very upset. He informed me that he and his wife had been asked to leave the country immediately ~ and they was gone within days.
He had been asked to leave our country by the Clinton Administration, from what I heard they cut a few top ranked foreign scientist, but that the fact that my friend and his wife were Israeli was a particular knock against them.
This is also second hand to you at FR, so take it for what it’s worth, but at the time I had a bit of a lib streak in me. This along with a number of other issues brought me along to conservatism.
“The new controversy comes as a new survey shows that a majority of U.S. Jews approve of Obama administration’s handling of U.S.-Israel relations.
The American Jewish Committee poll showed 55 percent approve and 37 percent disapprove. At the same time, 57 percent approve of the Netanyahu government’s handling of U.S.-Israel relations while 30 percent disapprove.”
Who ARE these people?? I am furious at the way Obama is treating Israel!
Wow, not surprising but what a horrible experience. Lib government seems to be about rewarding failure and snuffing out excellence so the lowest common denominator segment can receive the redistributed tidbits of the success of others.
They are right. The Obama administration doesn't deny visas, the State Department does. See?
If they asked the question, "Do you think President Obama should push for a Final Solution to the question of Israel?", I'll bet the American Jewish Committee poll would show 55 percent approve and 37 percent disapprove.
The headline is seriously misleading. There’s a huge difference between refusing to issue visas to all “Israeli scientists” and refusing to issue visas to Israeli scientist who work at one particular institution. It’s entirely possible that we became aware of a security problem there, e.g. a high-ranking mole who may be hiring others who are spying for unfriendly forces. Until the situation is sorted out, which obviously wouldn’t be done publicly, we might very well quietly put in place a temporary policy of not issuing visas to scientists from that institution.
“The American Jewish Committee poll showed 55 percent approve and 37 percent disapprove. At the same time, 57 percent approve of the Netanyahu government’s handling of U.S.-Israel relations while 30 percent disapprove.”
It is obvious that those polled are clearly not at all well informed. 0bama and Neytanyahu have a major dispute as a result of 0bama’s reckless and overt attempt to push Netanyahu out of office so he can get a more compliant Israeli government. It is likely that most of the “Jews” polled were secular. These secular “Jews” are much more beholden to the Leftist’s agenda as their guiding ideology than Judaism or any affinity to their brothers in Israel. The secular “Jews” prefer get their news from CNN and the other 0bamabots of the Leftists media. I’m certain that the Leftist propagandists have taken this line: downplaying diplomatic mis-steps by 0bama, characterizing Netanyahu as embattled, making claims that there is a strong appeasement or “peace movement” among Israelis, and as usual portraying the Palestinians as freedom fighters.
We need a new moniker for these secular “Jews” so as to make sense of these polls and better understand what they are all about. How about JINOs? Any other ideas?
good post, grumpy.
Unlike CBS or CNN polls, which are on their face suspect, the AJC is not a leftist group. Although they have vascillated on some policies over the years, John Podhoretz is the editor of Commentary magazine, which is published by AJC.
So, i’d have to conclude that the poll is fairly accurate, and that many of my ‘lansmans’ are either ignorant, stupid, or in some cases, both.
Jew in Birth Only => JIBO
Yeah, like I said, I was kind of the liberal stripe when this happened. These were good folks. They deserved a better shake.
My experience with liberals is that they disdain a higher authority than themselves and that they punish goodness.
If you are successful, it isn’t because you have worked hard or because you have achieved, it’s because you jobbed somebody else or took advantage of a someone.
