Barney Frank Calls Retirement Report 'Right-Wing Lie'

Needham — Newton Rep. Barney Frank is calling a Twitter post by conservative commentator Laura Ingraham a "false story" that exemplifies what he called the "right-wing technique of spreading a lie," WCVB TV is reporting.
Ingraham posted a message on her Twitter account that reads "Sources tell me Bawney Fwank (sic) won't run for re-election. Wants to work on the board of a bank and make $ before retirement."
"She made no attempt to verify whether or not this is true -- which it is not," said Frank, who added supporters are already collecting nomination signatures for him.
"People can see clearly that the right wing has again spread a complete lie without making the slightest effort to verify it," said Frank.
Frank has represented the Fourth Congressional District in Massachusetts since 1980. His liberal politics have often put him at odds with conservatives.

Except that Laura Ingraham is more of a commentator. If she were a 'reporter' then she would be guilty of what you say, and moreover shouldn't be 'tweating' her opinion. But as a commentator it's pretty much anything goes. And Barney should know that.

Right-wingers have been coming up with a handful of creative excuses for the alleged saliva transaction between a Tea Party protester and black Congressman Emanuel Cleaver since the latter went public with the incident. But tonight, Laura Ingraham took the cake with the implication that it is hypocritical to let Congressman Barney Frank spit all over everyone and deny that same right to the Tea Partiers.
Ingraham, who was on The O’Reilly Factor tonight filling in for Bill O’Reilly, was discussing the various accusations of racism against Tea Party protesters with Factor regular Bernie Goldberg. Goldberg challenged them all, attacking Congressman John Lewis for claiming racial slurs were being thrown around on the right and arguing that, if it were true, “you’d think somebody would have heard it,” and Lewis would have done some cable news appearances. Then he defended the protester accused of spitting on Congressman Cleaver, claiming that “even if the guy got some saliva on the Congressman, which is rude, it isn’t racist.”
Laura’s response? “That’s like Barney Frank on any given interview.” Video below:

Hmmm. Well, if she “broke” this news, she’s reporting the news, not just commenting on something that was reported elsewhere. If one wants to be honest, and not some kind of rumormonger, than one takes the appropriate steps. To me, if you want to hold your head up high, you do the right thing.
