Bereaved families are to be told that organs were removed from loved ones without consent after a huge blunder affecting the UK donor register.
Around 800,000 people have had their wishes about the use of their organs wrongly recorded due to an error.
An investigation found that 45 individuals for whom false data were stored have since died.
The NHS is about to contact approximately 20 families who allowed organs to be taken after being misinformed about what consent had previously been given.
Joyce Robins of pressure group Patient Concern told the Sunday Telegraph: "This Government has got an absolutely dreadful record when it comes to data, but it is absolutely horrific that such sensitive details were handled in such a careless way."

Coming soon to the U. S.
Would you bet your life that something of this magnitude was a “blunder”...??? I wound not.
I’ll bet none of them were Muslim.
It may be that someone, after all these years, wasn't aware of the subterfuge and though it was a great idea to send a ‘thank you’ out - and oops!
the demRts have been floating, for some time, a switch here - the better to ‘harvest’ more money: Instead of wanna be donors having a sticker on their license indicating that, they want to ‘assume’ if you DO NOT have sticker explicitly saying you DO NOT want to be a donor - then you are assumed to have given you consent to be one.
Very clever.
BTW, a Living Will will often not result in your true wishes being carried out.
Do the “Will to LIVE” instead.
Knock, Knock, Knock!
“Hello?
Mr. Jenkins?
Yes.
Mr. Jenkins I’m with the NHS and we are checking
on your organ donation record, we have you listed as
an organ donor, is that correct?
Yes, yes I’m listed as a donor.
Good, we’ve come for your liver, if you’ll just roll up
your sleeve and allow the nurse to start the IV we’ll
get started.”
When governments have “an absolutely dreadful record when it comes to data,” as big governments usually do, errors of this magnitude are to be expected.
After the first 20 or 30 thousand it stops being a blunder.
The twisted logic of the modern Marxist morons:
Kill unborn babies.
Make all citizens dependent on the gubmint for sustenance.
Confiscate every possible asset from productive citizens.
Cut out all useful organs from dying citizens who are no longer producing taxable income.
That’s why I am not a donor.
They are way too quick to call you dead when you are.
It is more in their inerest for you not to make it than for you to pull through.
Spot on.
I thought I was the only one with that belief. I am not paranoid, ‘cause they really are out to get me it seems.
Nah... that an error rate of 1 in 75 for the entire UK population, not just those in this specific data base.
That’s one heck of an error rate...:^)
Its not paranoid bother. If you are a donor and have a wreck, surgeons will be notified and waiting for you at the hospital. And they are praying you take a turn for the worst. They’ll have you divided up and allocated before you even get there.
I get the liver!
I get the eyes!
I’ll take whatever is left.
But he’s not even dead! Hey! He’s close enough for me. I second that.
when such personal, sensitive data can be managed so ineptly (or maliciously) it destroys any confidence that any such matters are handled with competence....
b.s. I am a registered organ donor and in 2007 I went into the hospital with a 10% chance to survive and unconcious. I was also on dialysis at that time. The doctors and nurses fought for me. My wife was there as well and saw what was happening.
I am biased towards donors though as my wife gave me a kidney a month and a half after that terrible day. Unconcious, a 105.9 temp and with kidney failure they could have easily let me pass and took everything but my failed kidneys, they didn’t (all my other organs are 100%).
Sadly, with Obamacare this will probably change.
Will "oops" cover it?
Now they have to go to the recipients of these purloined organs and get them back.
