“When they make stupidity and arrogance a crime, we might have something to get Dawkins on, but until then, I guess our hands are tied.”
Well I hope they don’t make stupidity a crime. I know a lot of stupid people who are actually quite nice, and would do no one any harm.
As for Dawkins, and Hitchens too, (Christopher, not Peter), at least intelligent people can point out what annoying ignoramuses they are. I have no idea why so many who call themselves atheist seem to hate the religious so much.
I’ll tell you how stupid that Hitchens is. In an interview he said he would like to eliminate religion as a source of value, particularly moral values. Guess what he wanted to replace it with; literature. Good grief what an idiot.
I do not believe in God, but I certainly do not care if others do, and find the best Christians the most honest, decent, and reasonable people I’ve met. Why would anyone object to that.

Dawkins thinks that people who teach their children about religion should be charged with child abuse.
Here’s one thread about it. There was another one but I’d need to search more to find it.

I think people with fragile egos and/or polluted consciences feel the need to strike out against what they believe is the cause of their own personal pain. Instead of looking at the real cause, they find a victim to blame. The bigger the wounded ego or irksome conscience, the more vitriolic the attack against religion or those who hold to religion.
