no, the phrase in the article referred to “NUCLEAR” war with Iran, i.e., the only way that will be avoided is to take out Iran’s nuke facilities and support before they can deploy nuclear weapons.

Does anyone really think Iran wants to get into a nuclear war with us and get obliterated? They aren’t Russia or China.
The problem is that we (conservatives and Republicans) have allowed the reduction of our armed forces on a massive scale. It happpened under two Republican and two Democratic presidents with both parties controlling congress at various times.
I think we should get this thing going with Iran, but who is going to fight? Even the National Guard has been pulling a lot of deployments over the past 8 years.
We have got to rebuild our armed forces to at least Ronald Reagen Cold War numbers if we are to have the capabilbity to fight.
So what.
With the times being as dangerous as they appear, it would be reassuring if we had a sane President.

I do think there are plenty who would undertake large risks to destroy Israel, i.e., would attempt a pre-emptive “first strike” somewhere in the future if they thought they had any chance to get away with it...... no I don’t think they are hoping to take on the USA directly in the forseeable future, more that with weak reeds like Obozo in the WH the Iranian Mullahocracy could be more tempted in coming years to take some steps in that region that continue to shift the balance of forces in their favor until they become ever more dangerous
