A "Scud Crisis" is threatening to ignite an all-out war between Israel and Hizbullah, the Kuwaiti al-Rai newspaper reported.
The daily said that Syria has delivered to Hizbullah Scud missiles, sparking a behind-the-scenes crisis after Israel informed Washington that "it will take steps if the U.S. didn't find a solution to what the Jewish state considers a threat to its security."
Following the Israeli warning, the U.S. State Department summoned Syrian ambassador Imad Mustafa and asked him "to inform his government about the level of danger if the missiles crossed the border," al-Rai said.
Washington also reportedly told Mustafa that the U.S. and other parties are keen to achieve a peaceful solution to the crisis to avoid war.
The daily quoted U.S. sources as saying that Israel has sent indirect warnings to Syria through Turkey and Qatar that it would "bomb Lebanese and Syrian targets in case the missiles crossed the border … and reached Hizbullah."
However, according to al-Rai, there are conflicting reports about the delivery of the Scud missiles to the Shiite party. Some sources in Washington confirm it, while others say the missiles didn't cross the border into Lebanon.
The Kuwaiti newspaper said that U.S. Senator John Kerry discussed the issue with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus lately.
"Assad's denial (about the delivery of the weapons) didn't seem convincing for the Americans who were mainly convinced that Damascus delivered the missiles to Hizbullah," al-Rai concluded.

I suspect that you are totally correct, Israel will not wait for Scuds with possibly bio weapon loads or even crude nuclear devices to fall.
When Israel reacts is when Obama must respond as either an ally...or a foe.
A diversion to keep Israel from focusing on Iran?
Given the current regime in DC, I wouldn’t count on the US coming up with a solution for any threat to Israel.

That right there was a HUGE mistake. Expecting the US to be responsible for threats to their security. "If you don't take care of me, I'll do it myself." What are they, our vassals?
With responsibilities come rights and powers. Cede the one and you cede the others.
The US solution may not be to your liking, and the steps could be backward -- and seaward.
I sure hope that if Israel does take the fight to Hezbollah again, they do it right this time and NOT settle for a draw.

Israel would be insane to react to Hizbullah flinging some over-sized trashcan/firecrackers at their border, they’d be walking right into Syriah and Iran’s trap.
The Israelis need to keep a cool head and save their firepower for the really important problems that are coming down the pipe instead of going off half cock on some stupid provocation.
I hope Israel’s leaders have a cooler perspective than to allow themslevs to fall for this nonsense.
It may not be a bad idea to neutralize one of Iran’s biggest weapons (Hezbollah) first, if/when they decide to take care of Iran’s nuke facilities.
Perfect timing. Right after Obama states new policy is not to retaliate to Chem/Bio attacks with Nukes. No wonder Israel distributed Bio weapons kits last week.
I think he's already established he is no ally to Israel. Bibi should proceed on that basis.
I fear for Israel as much as I fear for the U.S.
Since Iran orchestrates what goes on in Lebanon and Palestine you can speculate they would use them to open a second front against Israel. Maybe even order pre-emptive strikes to preoccupy Israel.
As for Israel taking out the scuds, those things proved remarkably hard to find in Iraq. We pretty much turned the air war in GWI over to hunting scuds and they still managed to get them set up and launched. No accuracy but if they have chem or bio on board they would serve as an effective terror weapon no matter where they landed in Israel. If that happens, Israel will take the gloves off.
That and Iran is probably behind it all.
Screw it. Lebanon is hosting the Hizbollah parasite. Let Lebanon know that if a single SCUD is launched from Lebanon, Israel will declare war and wage total war against the people and nation of Lebanon until they have utterly subdued it.
None of this “politically correct” war crap. Just death, destruction, and despair covering an entire nation.
