Sarah Palin Has Earned an Estimated $12 Million Since July
ABC News ^ | April 13, 2010 | Matthew Mosk

Pundits can debate the political costs and benefits of Sarah Palin's decision to step down as Alaska governor, but the monetary advantages of leaving her $125,000-a-year public service post are beyond dispute.

Since leaving office at the end of July 2009, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee has brought in at least 100 times her old salary – a haul now estimated at more than $12 million -- through television and book deals and a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures.

That conservative estimate is based on publicly available records and news accounts. The actual number is probably much higher, but is hard to quantify because Palin does not publicize her earnings. She reputedly got a $7 million deal for her first book, with the bulk of that money due after her resignation as governor, and $250,000 per episode, according to the entertainment trade press, for each of eight episodes of a reality show about Alaska for the The Learning Channel. She has managed to keep a lid on reliable figures for her earnings from a multi-year contract with Fox News and a second book deal with HarperCollins.

A Palin aide responding to questions from ABC News said the governor "is now a private citizen. As a result, her fees and earnings are private."

I am honestly surprised they used the word “EARNED”! Bravo!
Let’s not forget, half of her Earnings go to pay for Obamacare. ‘Bammy should write her a thank-you note.

Hahahahahahahaha! Those damn, evil capitalists! Problem is, her 2009 will be public since she was an elected official. So part of her income will be known.

I think it now looks like it was a good move.

It was brilliant, and completely tactical.

Sarah left Alaska in the hands of competent, honest conservatives, finished her promised projects, and crushed nearly all the nuisance ethics lawsuits without serious expenditure of funds. Holding office completely hobbled her ability to fight the Marxist shills, everything was illegal for her to do, and legal for the shysters. As a private citizen, she now has the same rights and ability to fight as her accusers.

Hmmm, thanks to your point, I’m going to have a lot of fun conversations in the future:

LIBERAL: Sarah Palin is so dumb!

ME: Are you smart?

LIBERAL: Of course I’m smart! Are you implying I’m not?

ME: Not at all. How much money have you made since July?

LIBERAL (Gives amount)

ME: How did Sarah Palin make so much more if you are so much smarter than her?

They ran a clip of Barney Frank on Leno or Letterman, I forget which, doing word association.

Wow, I'm impressed, this would be a rock solid sample.

Palin was hamstrung by the office.

She ended up with a ton of political enemies after her run with McLame; and those political enemies were filing a ton of bogus ethics complaints against her. She had to defend herself from those bogus claims. Bogus or not, they still cost money to defend against. And while she had to attend to all the bogus ethics complaints, it took her attention away from doing the business of the state of Alaska and its citizens.

She did the right thing in resigning. That allowed her (R) Lt. Governor to take office mid-term and continue governing from a conservative perspective.

And it also makes that new governor an incumbent come election time, increasing his odds of winning reelection and keeping Alaska governorship in (R) hands.

With her resignation, Palin was freed up to earn money to pay off her legal bills as well as to have money to put in her conservative PAC to help other like-minded conservatives win offices across the country.

She is also now free to speak her mind and to energize the conservative base in the US who have been without a leader to look up to for many years.

Palin speaks plainly about American ideals and dreams, and the radicals hate that because they know that most Americans are not K Street lawyers and lobbyists and media elites and most Americans prefer Palin's view of America to the view of the Washington insiders.

While she was governor they could shut her up with lawsuits and "investigative journalism."

Now that she is a private citizen, she can unload both barrels on them. And I love it.

There are a few party (R)s who can't see the upside. I guess you are one of them.

The libs were trying to bankrupt her through those nuisance “ethics” lawsuits in Alaska, so I hope now Sarah is laughing all the way to the bank.

I'd love to see her with deep enough pockets to countersue the pants off of them.

You may guess all you want.

Palin is getting wealthy. Good for her.

She's taken on the role of attack dog. Good for her and us.

But, quitting in Alaska killed any chance at national office. If she quit with the intention of one day running for the WH then it was a damned stupid move. The opposition will hammer her for it. That's just statement of an evident fact.

If she quit with the intention of chasing the dollar then it was not stupid but it wasn't particularly worthy of respect either, given her oath of office.

Your post indicates that Palin is funding her PAC with her own earnings. How do you know this? How much of the estimated $12million has she contributed to her own PAC?

btw...she was always free to speak her mind...she didn't have to quit to get that freedom, did she...

Sarcasm, wow, my turn to be impressed. The point, to make it easily understood, is that "Palin is a quitter" will be their mantra. It will be on posters, bumper stickers, all over the MSM and the Sunday talk shows...and like it or not she wrote it for them.
