The new law is the first of its kind in the United States and pro-life advocates believe it could pose a direct and historic challenge to the 1973 Roe v. Wade case, which deprived the states the power to regulate or restrict abortion. I thought in Roe v Wade the Supreme Court legalized abortion until the fetus was "viable". With medical technology being what it is, this ruling seems consistent with Roe v Wade.

The basis for “viability” in Roe v. Wade has long since been eclipsed. Premies are being kept alive early in the second trimester. Perhaps there is someone out there who can be more precise.
