A House Energy and Commerce Committee spokeswoman tells me that Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., has indeed cancelled the April 21 subcommittee hearing in which CEOs were to testify about Obamacare. So far, the only indication of this change appears on the committee's website is on the Republican minority ranking member's site. In fact, the hearing still appears on Waxman's committee calendar for that day.
Waxman had called the hearing in reaction to public statements by several companies -- including Verizon, AT&T, and John Deere, among others -- that Obamacare would cost them hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars because it laid a new tax on their retiree health benefit payments.

Waxman gets bit by FASB 106.
The GOP needs to push going forward with this.
Why do you think he cancelled it.
The stench comiong off this bill is enough to make a buzzard puke, and Waxman got a whiff and called it off.
Too bad. I was really looking forward to Nostrildamus being read the law in an open hearing. Don’t suppose he’s given a reason for the cancellation......
Bad PR for dems and Obama if this were to happen. So, Obama, err, Waxman, cancels it.
“...earning the ire of Waxman and other Democrats....”
When Mr. Stalin’s spirit gets angry, it gets angry.
IMHO
Cause they’re going to be on C-SPAN?
Waxman is an arse, who should have been defeated at least ten years ago. His major role in passing DeathCare only adds to his disgusting “legacy”!!!!
Whether he cancels the hearings or not, the awful truth about the vile and evil health care “reform” act will come out, WAY before the election. Then scads of ‘Rats will lose their seats, but probably not Waxman since he represents a “safe” district.
My best guess would be that he cancelled on orders from Pelosi, who was getting complaints from major donors that ole Henry was making RATS look really really stupid.
Nostrilitus!
“Why do you think he cancelled it.”
He called the hearings thinking he could make the CEOs look bad.
Remember he accused them of trying to derail Obamacre with fear tactics. he said it was dirty pool of themn to announce the millions each company was taking as a write down.
Once someone explained to him the compnaies were required by law to take these write downs he realized he’d look stupid
I guess The Nose wasn’t feeling nosy today.
As most businessmen turn into major league pusses when in front of thuggish congressional committees, tripping all over themselves to see who can be first to apologize for having told the friggin’ TRUTH, it’s possible that we won’t have missed much.
I knew it! I posted that prediction here at FR the day he announced it. There was just no way that the Regime would allow themselves to be embarrassed like this.
Well, well, well. It’s time for “the list” once again.

COWARD. All these rats are spineless cowards.
That’s only $3.3 billion, a mere drop in the bucket compared to the Government’s spend rate.
Bwaahahaha, the Man Who Should Not Be Photographed is also a chickensh!t. And there's gambling going on in this casino! Who'da thunk it.
The “why” of this cancellation is pretty easy to figure out. The CEOs were about to make Waxman look like a total fool. He’s only just now thought of it.
It’d be great if the Republicans held the hearings anyway to “hear from the CEO’s directly about the impact of the government takeover of health care on their businesses”. Now that would be fun to watch.
someone finally got ol’ RatFace to understand that he is an imbecile to fuss about corporate CEOs following the law and announcing write-downs which the law requires
poor Waxfong, he’ll have to hurry and find some other people to slander now
The Phantom of The Congress was gonna get his nose handed to him in a baggie by the corporations and their lawyers. Somebody finally told him!
Has he scared them enough? Or maybe he’s afraid of what they’d say.
Cowards!
Looks like after they passed the bill he found out what was in it. Now he’s trying to keep voters from finding out, and having CEOs explain it to congress would not be good since it would probably show up on the news.
I think the CEO’s should go ahead, make the trip to Washington and hold a press conference on the steps of Congress and LET THE PEOPLE KNOW how this legislation is going to affect them...
The execs should hold their own televised forum. I’ll bet Maria Bartoromo won’t do it (Ge-CNBC hack). Neil Cavuto, though, now That would be good. :-)
Waxman, the weasel sewer rat. Can’t wait for him to be gone from the scene.
He probably heard that the CEO’s weren’t going to bow and scrape and grovel like the CEO’s of GM and Chrysler did.
Waxman had called the hearing in reaction to public statements by several companies -- including Verizon, AT&T, and John Deere, among others -- that Obamacare would cost them hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars because it laid a new tax on their retiree health benefit payments.

CHICAGO (AP) - A nurse may soon be your doctor. With a looming shortage of primary care doctors, 28 states are considering expanding the authority of nurse practitioners. These nurses with advanced degrees want the right to practice without a doctor's watchful eye and to prescribe narcotics.
Paging nurse Ratched
$3.2962 BILLION - just from the companies on that list so far. Suppose there’s a couple jobs wrapped up in those billions of dollars of writeoffs?
How many 10s and hundreds of billions have we not sees that will rumble through our economy.
INSANE.
yeah, the Dems got smart, canceling this.
Now if we could just force GASB on Congress.
Keep up the good work! I was hoping someone would do this. This will come in handy for the upcoming midterms. Thanks!
I was so hoping Henry would do this. Countless election ads could have been created from this single event. Damn!
