Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who's suing the federal government about health care and just about everything else, adopted a new campaign logo that uses the Don't Tread on Me slogan commonly seen at tea party rallies.
While Abbott campaign spokesman Jason Johnson stresses that the image of the coiled timber rattlesnake goes way back in American political history, and that even some federal agencies have used the motif, it's pretty clear what the target audience of this logo is: Disgruntled Texans who are in an anti-federal government, anti-incumbent mood.

I’ve posted it before: this man should run for president.
Good for him. Good for Texas. Good for us all.
That is nice but I wish he had been more active working against the left these past few years.
Actively working against the left,
before now,
would have gotten you labelled a “kook” and marginalized.
They’re still trying to do this,
but folks “have their backs up” now.
Abbott is terrific. I saw him speak recently and there is no acting to this guy. He is legitimately pissed about Obama’s power grab.
I knew him when he was a much younger guy, just a few years after the accident (a tree fell on him while jogging.) He was a great guy, a good sense of humor, thoughtful and very kind. There are a lot of Texans like him.
A state AG has never run directly for President before.
I don’t think it’s likely he’d run. But a state constitutional officer from a big state could possibly put himself in the VP mix. That would be interesting.
