NY Times: Poll Finds Tea Party Anger Rooted in Issues of Class
NY Times ^ | April 14, 2010 | By KATE ZERNIKE and MEGAN THEE-BRENAN

Tea party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, tend to be Republican, white, male, and married, and their strong opposition to the Obama administration is more rooted in political ideology than anxiety about their personal economic situation, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

The 18 percent of Americans who identify themselves as Tea Party supporters look like Republicans in many ways, but they hold more conservative views on a range of issues and tend to be older than Republicans generally. They are also more likely than Republicans as a whole to describe themselves as “very conservative” and President Obama as “very liberal.”

And while most Republicans say they are “dissatisfied” with Washington, Tea Party supporters are more likely to classify themselves as “angry.”

Speculation and anecdotal evidence have often taken the place of concrete data about who supports the Tea Party movement, and the poll offers some surprising findings.

Their fierce animosity toward Washington, and the president in particular, is rooted in deep pessimism about the direction of the country and the conviction that the policies of the Obama administration are disproportionately directed at helping the poor rather than the middle class or the rich.

The overwhelming majority of Tea Party supporters say Mr. Obama does not share the values most Americans live by, and that he does not understand the problems of people like themselves.

Perhaps Tea Party members are justified in being angry, after all, when you’ve worked your way through college, paid back any loans, owned and operated small businesses that employees people, then they’re told their “wealth” will be redistributed and their healthcare in soon approaching old age will be rationed in another “wealth” redistribution scheme, what can you expect?

Does the NYT really think any one is going to believe that it would report on the Tea Party movement in a credible, fair and impartial manner? Why do they waste the ink and paper? The people who read the rag have made their minds up, and the people who don’t read it aren’t going to be persuaded by anything the NYT and SeeBS comes up with.

Tea Party supporters are also more likely than most Americans to believe, mistakenly, that the president has increased taxes for most Americans.

Mistakenly? All this guy has done is raise taxes on everything.

But while most Americans blame the Bush administration or Wall Street for the current state of the American economy, the greatest number of Tea Party supporters blamed Congress.

Because we all know that Congress has nothing to do with the downturn....

The NYT could interview 30,000 TEA Partiers and still know nothing about them.

True, they could. But they won't. It is beneath their pay scale, and besides, they would have to get off of their pedestal and meet real people.

What?
I thought Tea Partiers were poor, illiterate, racist whites?

Can’t they decide on a meme and stick with it?

No. The Pravda Media lies. It is a cultural debate AGAINST Socialism which has been a repugnant concept in America to the majority since the spectre first raised its head a century ago.

Wow, the MSM has wrongly portrayed tea party types as toothless, illiterate inbreds with delusions of white supremacy? I thought education immediately instilled the purity of liberal beliefs, and that only ignorant, uneducated people could not support Obama's vision of utopia?

I guess the lies aren't selling well these days.

Got this email

A very chilling letter.

POSTED BY ANN BARNHARDT - MARCH 25, AD 2010 11:42 AM MST
Dhimmitude is the muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam.

The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be “gambling”, “risk-taking” and “usury” and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient. So I, Ann Barnhardt, a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is Dhimmitude.
Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to Islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to Islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don’t believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. “Sure, I’ll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?”
If you are a Christian and you acquiesce to this, you will be bending your knee to Islam, and denying Christ. How many of the early Christians went to horrific deaths rather than offer a mere pinch of incense to a statue of Caesar? Every single one of us has a BIG decision to make right now, in this moment. The choice is to either offer a pinch of incense to Islam and Marxism, or take up our cross and follow Christ. I’ve made my decision. I choose Christ. I choose the Cross.

47% of the public pays no income tax. The tea party are 50% of the remaining 53%.

Billion dollar marxists like George Soros and Bill Gates and Ted Kennedy believed we don’t pay ENOUGH taxes yet.

NYTimes sticks head way, way up ass and tries to assess the situation. Decides race card no longer working, let’s try class warfare again.

Well sure they are well educated ... and that’s the problem, isn’t it.

Yes, all the people at those tea parties look exactly like the guy on the Monopoly box. I’m a dead ringer for Mr. Peanut myself, including the top hat and monocle, am filthy rich, having inherited a fortune via my late Uncle Scrooge’s molybdenum mines, and hate everybody else on Earth.
