Schiff is great, I also like Linda McMahon (pledged to spend $50 million of her own money to win) and, to a lesser extent, Rob Simmons. Blumenthal has to be one of the most boring robotic politicians I’ve ever seen, I think he’s definitely vulnerable if he’s pitted against a charismatic outgoing opponent.
I think he is venerable. McMahon and Schiff both oppose public funding for abortion but it is unfortunate that a real conservative isn’t running. Why do we return to the same model to win the NE when there is clearly and opening for something new? I like Schiff because regardless of the other issues he is someone we can trust and he is articulate and understands capitalism and doesn’t just weakly acknowledge it but defends it and the free market vociferously. We need more of that.
Rumor I heard today is Simmons is going to drop out in favor of McMahon. In return, the establishment GOP will support him in an attempt to regain the second district U.S. House seat he lost in 2006.
This is a big screw you to the grass roots if true.
Simmons has a 53% lifetime American Conservative Union rating. He’s worthless on everything but defense.
