Read the article this morning in the Times-Picayune upthread. The oafs at the NOPD didn’t get around to classifying the thing as an assault until Monday when they did the police report.

A city like New Orleans generally has a lot of crime and I doubt the police will give an assault and battery priority over murders, rapes, and robberies involving firearms.

Don't blame stupid cops. Mitch Landrieu takes over as mayor in a few weeks, right? His transition team is probably trying to keep a lid on this.
