PHOENIX -- Federal law enforcement officers have been sent to Arizona as fears surface of possible vigilante violence, experts said.
Mid-April is a time of year law enforcement officers across the country, and in Arizona, are on high alert.
"It's a time at which not only the Anti-Defamation League, but law enforcement, and I mean law enforcement at all levels -- local, state and federal -- are geared up, said Bill Straus, the Arizona Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League.
The reason: there have been serious attacks on Americans by their fellow citizens during April.
April 19 is the anniversary of the deadly fire at David Koreshs compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993.
April 19 is also the anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
The next day, April 20, is the anniversary of the 1999 Columbine high school shootings in Colorado.
"Adolph Hitler's birthday falls in this month, said Straus about why there are so many incidents in April. He said racist groups often plot attacks to celebrate the day.
Straus said he is even more concerned about violent plots this year.
The anti-government movement has been building and expanding since the election of President Obama, said Straus.
Straus said there has been a spike in anti-government groups, including groups willing to commit violent acts.
"The militia movement seems to have picked up some steam as of late, said Strauss. "These people are very frustrated. They are frustrated to the point they are dressing up in military garb, donning weapons and going on training runs."
The Southern Poverty Law Center recently released a report noting the spike in anti-government groups.
Their Web site lists 10 in Arizona for 2009. In 2008, there were six.
"Being along the border and having the immigration issue is a huge catalyst for these kind of things, unfortunately, said Jaime Molera, a political consultant.
He said the illegal immigration issue often draws extremists to Arizona. He said the groups often use illegal immigration as a cover for racist beliefs.
"They say they want to stop any people from coming into your country, when what you want is to kick out anyone that may that be of a different skin color or maybe religious preference. Those are the kinds of things that mask what the real underlying hate it is, said Molera.
Law enforcement won't say if anti-government groups are planning attacks like we've seen in the past, but with their numbers rising, Straus worries it's only a matter of time before one takes action.
"I can remember very days in the last few years where I don't go to sleep at night worried about what tomorrow's newspaper is going to tell me, he said.
. 1. Sheriff Arpaio enforcing the law by breaking up the human smuggling and slavery rings here in Arizona.
2. The massive busts this week of the slave trading rings across the state by ALL law enforcement people.
3. The "immigration" bill currently awaiting Governor Brewer's signature.
Arizona finds itself in a bad financial situation right now. (Thank you Napolitano.) We're going to have to put solving Central and South America's poverty problems on hold for a while.
Stalin was more of an equal opportunity mass murderer.
It's ironic when you thing about it. People like us want to be safe and free. The left sucks up to a Hitler wannabe. Go figure.
Gosh, you are right! No ideas of how Hillary and Obama can torture and punish Americans!
From now on you should ignore that label. I do. It means nothing anymore beyond a means to power by people are truly racist.
These dim wits just don’t get it.
OF COURSE there’s been a rise in anti-govenment sentiment! The whole frickin’ country is now anti-govenment. Why? Because the government has become tyrannical. Their response? Become MORE tyrannical!
Morons. Unfortunately, dangerous morons, and ones that mean us ill.
bump
It's amazing the idiocy of our county, having such a shyster on the payroll, when she moonlights as an advocate for illegal activity. They must be really afraid of her.
Article Four, Section Four of the United States Constitution states, (the President) “...shall protect the states from invasion.”
We have armed foreign nationals traversing the border killing U.S. Citizens. We have women and children being savagely raped. We have high levels of crime associated with this.
We have the resources of our nation being stolen by foreign nationals, so that we cannot use those funds on our own citizens.
Any show of non-acceptance of this is deemed racist.
For God sake, can’t these federal idiots understand what their duty would be if it were their family members being slaughtered or raped or sodomized? And would that involve racism?
Racism, is the defense of all this, and turning the table on the victims, to call them the racists.
The racists are perpetrating these acts you nimrods.
I proclaim myself an expert in these matters and I say those other self proclaimed experts are full of s***!
Food for thought: I wonder how effective it would be to call someone a “pedofile” just after they called you a “racist”. After all, turnabout is fair play.
Molera, Don't project your own racism onto other people.
And, admittedly, there is a greater liklihood that you'd be right than they were...
It seems that the Feds, along with their cohorts in the real Hate Groups like the SPLC, La Raza (The Race), MEChA, and Mexican drug cartels, are just going after Americans......its government sponsored Ku Klux Klanning of Americans
“Jaime Molera, political consultant to La Raza”
Fixed it.

"ADL Says Armed Anti-Immigration Groups in Arizona Share Ties to White Supremacists"
"The Arizona border has become the flashpoint for America's far-right anti-immigration movement," said Bill Straus, ADL Arizona Regional Director. "Anti-immigration groups are engaged in a campaign of vigilantism and intimidation, and their ideology has all the hallmarks of the hateful rhetoric promoted by anti-Semites and racists. We are greatly concerned that the collusion of anti-immigration groups and their extremist sympathizers is contributing to the growing climate of intolerance, lawlessness and violence along the Arizona-Mexico border."
Immigration is a tremendously appealing hook for extremists, said Bill Straus
"We find it absolutely outrageous that Sheriff Arpaio has chosen an individual with an obvious bias, who works on behalf of an anti-immigrant group to conduct training on immigration law and ethnic profiling. This shows that he is not serious about dealing with the concerns that have been raised about his tactics and treatment of immigrants," said Bill Straus, Regional Director of the ADL's Arizona office. "It's difficult to interpret this as anything but an affront to the federal government, the community at large and certainly the Hispanic community," Straus added.

Bill Strauss of the Anti-Defamation League in the Valley said he believes illegal immigration is just a cover.
"I think what they're addressing is skin color and ethnicity. That's what this is all about."
Strauss added, "Lots of groups want to cloak their own bigotries and prejudices in the issues surrounding illegal immigration and the border, but that doesn't mean that's reality."
April 19 is also the anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Think these historical illiterates in the MSM have any idea what April 19th is really the anniversary of?
