I’ve never heard anything about him being a heroin addict.

According to some sources he had a net worth of over $100 million.

He started out broke, but did Hee Haw for over twenty years, and later recorded “Act Naturally” with Ringo Starr and several music videos with Dwight Yoakam. After his first hits, I don’t think there was much gas pumping in his life.
