You really have to admire a music genre that can inspire a lyric like that.

For the record, the song, “You Never Even Called Me By My Name,” from which you quote the lyrics, was written by Steve Goodman, now deceased. Coe recorded it but he even talks about Goodman having written it during the song.

Steve Goodman wrote that ... noted for “City of New Orleans.” I saw him perform at Virginia Tech in 1983, before he died too young.
