The purpose of using the word "alleged" is to protect an "innocent until proved guilty" criminal from a prejudiced jury pool. The press need not worry in this case.
Good! I can tell you that downtown Indy needs the trash taken out.
‘In the letter of the law, I’m not allowed to carry ... but I carry.”
TMI, IMO if you’re not convicted of a violent felony you shouldn’t need a license or permission.
Or are likely to be. It was a clean shoot.
“The shooter said he feared for their lives”
Magic words
“police say he was wearing an ankle bracelet consistent with those issued for home detention.”
The moral of the story is “when the law fails, freedom prevails”.
Save them for the presence of your attorney.
Ya don't say?
This is a gigantic "WTF????" moment.
It is very unlikely the guy would have been carrying his weapon if he did not have a CCW. My assumptionis that he was carrying at the time. I'll go back and read the article more closely.
My point is this: If he had not had a CCW, received all the training required with a CCW, not been as in tune with his firearm because of lack of CCW, he would not have been able to protect his life nearly as effectively.
To your point about not needing a CCW on private property, of course you are correct.
From the article: "...so while walking to the back area of the apartment, he pulled out a gun he was carrying, turned and fired at the would be robber."
(It nauseates me to even type that stuff in jest...)
my concern is that the CCW is turning into a defacto firearm license.
Not sure I entirely understand your point. Responsible people with proper CCW training is a good thing. Perhpas you could elaborate your view a bit.
And you are on a government list so the Obama types will know where to go to confiscate all the guns from the good guys.
Arizona just passed a law that you don't need a permit to carry concealed. Go Arizona!!!!
I have an Indiana CCW. Several points worth emphasizing:
1. No permit is required to purchase, own, transport, or carry a long gun, such as a rifle or shotgun. I can even carry an evil black “assault rifle” in my vehicle, or while hunting.
2. No permit is required to purchase or own a handgun. I can transport it to or from a range, or gunshop without a permit. I can carry it on my own property without a permit.
3. The only thing my CCW permit allows me to do is to carry my loaded handgun concealed on my person or in my vehicle. It does not permit me to carry it where firearms are prohibited by law, such as a school or government building.
I wasn't ... but even if ... God's grace is either sufficient .. or not.
My knowledge of our founding, superficial to basic understanding ... shows all crime dealt with swiftly and once punished, it was done.
As far as I can discern, society took care of weird or violent people without a law, and I think once the law of offense was satisfied, it was done.
The apartment shot him?
“unsuccessful criminal”
Too harsh. Such labeling will cause low self esteem and may lead to criminal activity. How about unregistered entrepreneur?
‘Not sure I entirely understand your point. Responsible people with proper CCW training is a good thing. “
Responsible people with firearm training is a good thing. A permit isn’t needed for any other Constitutionally protected right and a permit shouldn’t be required for a firearm.
If a person is dangerous to the community they should be in jail.
So many of these news articles on these types of events include “licensed gunowner” or “licensed firearm” when referring to a CCW holder. The press is not on our side and they are doing that for a reason.
I’m thinking of moving to AZ.
