I'm actually familiar with that kind of "peace". I still live near the small town where 6 generations of my family are from.

Nobody locks their car doors, except if they go to town in the summer. If you don't, people will leave grocery bags full of surplus zucchini from their garden in your car while you're gone.

So true. I've really enjoyed it. It feels like the old days when you could leave your door unlocked, or a good old fashioned hometown Independence Day celebration. It's a slice of America that many of us treasure and others seem to have forgotten or never known.
