1993: Waco cult siege ends with inferno
At least 70 people are feared to have died in a fire at the besieged headquarters of the Branch Davidian sect near Waco, Texas.
The fate of the cult's leader, David Koresh, is still unknown.
The White House said the blaze had been started deliberately by those inside after the FBI began a dawn assault.
Tear gas canisters and stun grenades were fired into the cult's compound and an armoured vehicle moved in to demolish the walls.
Three hours later they broke down the main entrance.

CNN - BOSTON, April 20 - National Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19th by elements of a para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimated that 72 were killed and more than 20 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.
Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices.
The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order.
The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons. Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early April between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms. One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned their weapons over voluntarily.”
“Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans.
During a tense standoff in Lexington’s town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange.
Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units. Colonel Smith, finding his forces overmatched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat.
Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor has also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

The good, the bad and the ugly.
Bill and Hillary Clinton, Janet Reno, et al, tortured, burned alive and murdered scores of innocent men, women and children because the Waco standoff was embarrassing the administration. They all deserve prison sentences or the electric chair for this massacre. Bill Clinton is a violent killer of innocent children.
Watching these two attacks...you knew without a doubt that it was wrong...just plain wrong...
If those people at WACO were taken in...that's the way it was. What benefit was the attack??

Just plain stupid...and Reno took the blame...she was an idiot...and so was Bubba....
And these are events in our own country...and there was no attack on us...It drives me nuts.
And then there are events like Hassan...screaming...murderous beast and we coddle him....
......and what does David Koresh deserve??
This weekend, scouts from all over New England converged on Concord Massachusetts to retrace the steps of Isaac Davis and the minutemen from Acton Massachusetts. The seven mile hike was punctuated with motivational speeches. This was the third time I was priviledged to participate. I learn something new each time.

I could look it up but I’m pretty sure the OK bombing took place on 4/19 too.
He (and the people with him) probably didn’t deserve an armed assault on them backed by a warrant obtained by lying to a Federal judge in the first place.
I do not know what David Koresh desrerved. He was never tried, or convicted of anything. I do know that the the show at Waco was just that , a grand stand play. Koresh could have been arrested at anytime. He was often seen around town, as he was the day prior to the big show. But it was a media event designed to show evil Christians being decimated by our government. The Branch Davidians, all 73, were eventually burned out to protect the children. It was all unnecessary; as was Ruby Ridge.
I have never trusted anything from the government since.

I had enough confidence in my answer. I also remember McVeigh saying he chose the date due to Waco.

Myself as well. Waco changed my life forever.
For those with eyes to see: they saw raw, undiluted, unrestrained, unmerciful federal power crush and murder innocent women and child to make a simple point.
