McCain: I won't support Crist if he runs as an Independent candidate ("I support Republicans")
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-04-20 | Molly K. Hooper

Posted on 04/20/2010 11:07:28 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday he will not support Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) in his Senate race if he runs as an Independent.

Crist, who helped McCain win Florida in the 2008 presidential GOP primary, has recently indicated he is mulling an Independent bid. McCain has backed Crist, but made it clear Tuesday that his endorsement will not stand if Crist is not the Republican candidate.

Asked if he will support Crist as an Independent, McCain told The Hill, "No."

Pressed further, McCain said, "I support Republicans."

McCain must be running for election this year because Crist
seems to be his favorite type of Government thug!

Seems he is following Cornyn and the NRSC. Staying within the party and not reaching across the aisle to anyone.

How long will this last? Till the election is my guess.

McCain needs to be relieved of his duties cause he is one (of many) who have forgotten the oath they took when going into office. McCain is an embarrassment and a definite RINO extraordinaire.

It will last only to the Primary in August. Then, win or lose, it goes back to reaching across the aisle to “my friends”.

Maybe we need to make McCain run for re-election annually - its almost like he’s pretending to be a conservative again when he has an election looming over his head!

This is a great image, but a more accurate image would have an elephant being mounted, since the rhinos always screw elephants. And the rhino would have an elephant mask on.

Not really. Since McLame is up for election he can’t support Crist. But had this been a non-election year for McLame then I’m sure he would have backed Crist (even as a democrat).

Well, that’s not very maverick-y. What happened to the brave John McCain, man of principle? When a conservative challenger with real guiding principles (the interests of the American people) shows up and it’s “Yipe! Run for cover!” Cover indeed...

Right! McCain supports establishment Republicans who have lost touch with the roots of America. McCain deserves to lose big time.

Has he supported non-Republicans in the past?

He seems to go out of his way to compliment and fawn over Democrats, but really takes the gloves off when he's slamming a Republican.

McCain on Barack Obama:

"very impressive, he's thoughtful, he's centrist"

"probably got a great future"

"a very honest and fine person"

"absolutely" qualified to be president

Sad but true - there are enough Dim and mushy middle voters here now to make sure this moron continues to hold office. Been posting flyers for JD and talking him up - the only way we can get rid of the fool is by beating him in the primary (and even then its probably gonna be tough)

I thought RINOs stuck together, McLame!
Crist was there to help McCain when he needed him most, which ultimately threw the election to 0bama. We haven’t forgotten, and it’s reason #1 why Charlie Crisp is persona non-grata. But now McCain is stabbing him in the back. So why is Sarah Palin “honor bound” to support McCain, again?
