Booby trap probe leads to Calif. raids, arrests

LOS ANGELES — The Southern California homes of dozens of white supremacists were raided Tuesday as part of a probe into a string of potentially deadly booby trap attacks targeting police officers, authorities said.

Federal and local officers converged on 35 homes and took 16 people into custody in Riverside County for a variety of crimes, including weapons, narcotics and parole violations, Hemet police Capt. Dave Brown said.

None of the arrests were directly related to the booby trap attacks that have plagued the small Hemet Police Department since New Year's Eve.

"But we hope some (arrests) will lead us to our suspects," Brown said.

District Attorney Rod Pacheco said everyone arrested was connected to white supremacist groups.

"They are upset with our aggressive posture against all gangs," Pacheco said. "White supremacist gangs have been very violent, especially toward law enforcement."

Hemet police have been targeted at least three times. In one case, a ballistic device strapped to a fence at the gang unit compound sent a bullet within inches of an officer's face.

Historically a rural retirement community, Hemet saw rapid growth during the real estate boom but has since been ravaged by the foreclosure crisis.

Political, you bet your sweet ***. There are probably a lot more serious crimminals out there but these guys are an easy target.

White Supremacists? What does that mean? That this isn’t a Mexican illegal drug gang?

Huh?

That's what I said.

Maybe just another case of "round up the usual suspects."

Kind of funny; using gestapo techniques on Nazis.

“Historically a rural retirement community,”
I suppose White Supremacists have to retire someplace too.

All for taking these guys off the street. When will the black supremacists be arrested?

Possibly an attempt to show that the “right” is a threat to security. Let’s see how this one plays out.

I have no love for rightwing extremists, esp. the Nazis, neo-Nazis or other anti-semitic, anti-black, anti (legal) immigrant groups. However, Napolitano is just looking for someone on the far right to use as a posterboy to cover up for her total failure to protect America from terrorists, illegal immigrants/criminals, drug dealers, etc.

Yep, even racists have the same constitutional protections as every other citizen.

This really sounds like it was for show more than anything. Wonder how they’ll play it if the attacks continue?

["White supremacist gangs have been very violent, especially toward law enforcement."]

But Mexican and South American gangs have permission to ravage the countryside with impunity, because they are a "proteced class".

Thanks. I worked in Greenwich Village for a number of years, and we used to see skinheads down there. I suppose they were racists, but their chief interest seemed to be drugs and crime. They certainly weren’t conservatives in any normal sense of the word.

They were a drug-addicted product of the 60s. But instead of growing their hair long and smoking pot or sniffing coke, they shaved it short and smoked pot and sniffed coke.

I know my department gets the Southern Poverty Law Center magazine, addressed to the Chief c/o the department. I see it laying around and wonder if they are sending it out to all agencies, or if my Chief signed up for it personally. Almost every cover is stuff like “Rage from the the Right”...never stuff about jihadis, illegals, etc.

For non-LEO FReepers, Chiefs can sometimes be the last to get a clue about current issues, and these organizations know it and pump them with PC stupidity so they can filter it downwards.

Here is what they are doing, I sense. This is their tactic.

They are moving, Janet Reno-style in to the main target (all of us/Free Republic/Tea Parties/Conservative movements/Free Speech/Republican Party) from the extreme outer fringes (all the while ignoring radical islamic fundamentalists in mosques across the lands planning attack and jihad)--those extreme freakos who bear little relationship to patriots or the Tea Party, but then moving closer and closer to the Sensible Silenty Majority Center, like peeling skin on an onion; the Sensible Silent Majority Center, with is conservative/moderate, which 80% of the American People occupy. They may start with these extreme shills as they are easy targets as part of their incremental tactic, and then gradually shave towards those who merely own guns but dont have a threatening manner, then they will come after the talk show hosts. Soon, 80% of the American People will have to be thrown into jail or camps. It is an outer fringe to sensible innner core direction they are taking. These are no accidents. Connect the dots. Connect what CNN says. Connected with Bill Clinton says. Connect what and where and why and how there are raids. Very clever. They have some good people on staff working for them heralding from K Street or Madison Avenue.

“Soon, 80% of the American People will have to be thrown into jail or camps.”

Got a jail or camp or city or STATE that’s big enough to hold 240+million people?

WTF?????????

Never get to 80%. The average folks will just quit or they will rebel.

No other option. Our Nation is on course for rebirth or destruction.
