SEATTLE - Three bisexual men have filed a federal lawsuit against a national gay-sports organization, claiming they were unfairly deemed not gay enough to play for a gay softball team during the Gay Softball World Series.
Steven Apilado, LaRon Charles and Jon Russ contend the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance discriminated against them during the Gay Softball World Series held in Seattle in August 2008.
The lawsuit, first reported by The Seattle Times and the Seattle Weekly, was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court. It accuses the alliance of violating Washington state laws barring discrimination.
According to the lawsuit, the three California men were on a softball team called D2 that advanced to the championship game in Seattle. During the game, play was stopped several times after the team that lost to them in the semifinals protested that D2 was in violation of a league rule permitting no more than "two heterosexual players" on a team.
Following the championship game, which D2 lost, Apilado, Charles and Russ were each separately called into a conference room in front of more than 25 people for a "hearing" by the Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance to determine whether each was "heterosexual" or "gay," the lawsuit says.
The men say they were forced to answer "highly personal and intrusive questions" about their sexual interests and private life, including whether they were "predominantly attracted to men" or "predominantly attracted to women."
At one point during the proceedings, the lawsuit alleges, one of the plaintiffs was told: "This is the Gay World Series, not the Bisexual World Series."

How can someone be not gay enough? Kinda like being a little pregnant.
Every baseball team needs a switch-hitter or two. Or three.
That must suck.
Is this for real????? I’m laughing so hard at the ridiculousness of it...discriminated against for not being gay enough....too funny.
I always thought that it was an asset to be a switch hitter in softball.
Some straight men need to try to sign up for this baseball team, then sue the sh##### out of them when they refuse to allow them to join.
I’m sure they can call on the ACLU for legal help. (sarc)
The very first sentence had me laughing.
There's a team called that in L.A.
How do you “prove” you are gay? Is there a test?
Thanks, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time.
I don’t care what people do in private, which is one reason why I find question even having a Gay Olympics. Sounds like fodder for stereotype jokes.
As to these 3 litigants: What do they propose? Tryouts?
We've become the Do-Do Bird of nations.
We have just experienced yet another ....

Gives switch hitter a whole new meaning!
What is the hell is the world coming to? There is a guy at work who’s wife left him. He has two kids. After getting upwards of 45, he can’t find a new girlfreind, so he joins a bi-sexual/gay homo swingers group and all of a sudden he’s now gay. Whatever. Wake up one morning and just be gay.
Either you s* d*
or you do not.
They would probably be afraid to “try out” for the team!
Guess they smelled something a little fishy about these guys.
Sad, but I fear true.
They need more diversity in their ranks.
I bet the bench clearing brawls are a real treat.
“Coach, I understand your whole team is on the disabled list for sprained wrists from slap fights, bruised egos, and hurt feelings from harsh language?”
Way to go homos - show us how stable your lifestyle really is, love to hear your argument. Give us something to laugh at.
Funny, they want to be married and treated like equals but when it comes to gay softball, they sound like petty bitches.
The quota systems the Left railed against are still in place. Break the lavender ceiling.
They need someone who can catch as well as pitch.
It’s all about going to the showers after working up a sweat...

Obama isn’t black enough, these “switch hitters” ain’t gay enough, I am not rich enough.......life is a bitch!
**How can someone be not gay enough?**
They also wondered if Fuhrer Obama was BLACK ENOUGH!
Wow. How sad. I think somebody should organize a March on Washington in order publicize the sad plight of the “not gay enough” in our society. I never realized they were being tretaed so poorly “big-homosexual”.
You can’t make this crap up!
No problem with him being discriminated against for THAT...
I don’t think we want to go there...
I KNOW I don’t.
Are you trying to get me banned ? You can't imagine how hard this is for a Utah man to not recite every sick BYU joke we came up with all those years when they were tromping us in football .
The problem with these leagues is that everyone wants to be either a pitcher or a catcher. No wants to play the other positions.
Yup. Get some fat beer bellied home run hitter softball types. “We want to join the team but we don’t do that queer stuff.”
I once knew a fairly hot girl who was dating and sort of living with a bi guy. He moved to a another town to be with a gay crowd. He was also leaching money off her but she still cared for him.
I tried to convince her that he was not bi but he was gay and bi really means gay. I had no interest in her because if she had been with him then the AIDS risk meter would peg off the charts.
She was a lib who hated Rudy for cleaning up NYC and for “chasing the poor people out” of NYC. She was a very white northern midwestener. She was also very wary of black people. A tolerant liberal who was a little racist.
The bottom line was she was a total mental case. After talking to her twice, I avoided her like the plague.
They were asked if they the double play was their favorite defensive move.
He could pitch for the g*y team. I am sure he already has.
Must make for some unusual drag bunts. And forget aout the suicide squeeze.
Freedom of Association.. how does this sort of thing even wind up in the courts to begin with?
Any private individual or group can discriminate against whoever they want whenever they want for whatever reason they want, period. Why is it people think they have a right to be accepted by anyone?
I think I’m going to file a class action lawsuit against all beautiful women who ever turned me down for a date.
Gay discrimination is DIFFERENT from when straights do it against them. It just...IS!
Probably questioned about who pitches, who catches, and what constitutes a ‘passed ball’.
