Two of the main rationales for abortion have been eliminated. First, the social stigma of single motherhood is all but wiped out, and families do not routinely beat their daughters for such a mistake any more. If they do, there are harsh penalties.

Secondly, employers and schools may not discriminate based on pregnancy or marital status any more. Some do, but there are legal remedies.

Spiritual considerations aside, and other than a physically life-threatening situation, there’s no practical reason to kill a child except unwillingness to be inconvenienced.
