Mow-down LI teen has a sick way of looking at bright side of death [Do I look hot in my mugshot?]
NY post ^ | 4/21/2010 | KIERAN CROWLEY, LORENA MONGELLI and SELIM ALGAR

She mowed down a helpless, elderly woman while driving a van high on drugs, but a twisted Long Island teen still claimed to see a bright side to the horrific crash.

"The thing that made me not feel so bad was, she was old," hellcat Kayla Gerdes, 18, told investigators after she was busted for killing 69-year-old Rebecca Twine Wright as the retired doctor trimmed her lawn Tuesday, a source told The Post.

Gerdes, of Freeport, claimed to once be a model. And she was so self-absorbed in the hours after the wreck that she told cops interviewing her she wants "to see a newspaper of the news, to see what I look like."

So sad. It looks like she's a picture-perfect product of what the liberal media and Hollywood shapes young women to be - stupid, vain, slutty, drug-addicted and willing to do 'anything' for a buck.

This is what we have come to as a country...
The 60’s wave of cavalier sex,do-your-own-thing attitudes
and rampant drug use, coupled with permissiveness, political correctness, the sense of entitlement and total disregard for human life has brought us to this point. God help us.

Her passenger and boss, Brian Steele Jr. -- who appeared to be oblivious to the carnage -- bellowed at her that she wrecked his car two weeks ago and lamented that "he has to pay for this now."

Her boss, Steele, was driving at first, but Gerdes demanded to take the wheel because he wasn't going fast enough, police said.

Some boss. He is a loser like her.

Even if they do have a death penalty, unless it was premeditated murder, it would not apply. Manslaughter by auto in Florida is 15-25 years, IIRC............

There needs to be a national campaign for removing the warning labels and safety devices from every last hair dryer, toaster, radio and cup of hot coffee. Far too many idiots are making it to adulthood without removing themselves from the gene pool.

They are becoming a clear and present danger and have to be dealt with before they start running for any more public offices.

Yeah, she seems pretty sorry...that she got caught. One more crime to add to her rap sheet. Now she will be "inconvenienced" by yet another court date (or twelve). This narcissistic space cadet is a deadly menace, and she is surrounded by enablers. The boss/boyfriend sounds like a real winner. Not.

She should get that much time at least. The very idea, well I’m glad she was old. Well, she could have lived a lot longer if she hadn’t been mowed down by some selfish little twit. This is the mind set about life, that abortion gives, IMHO.

New York does not have capital punishment, and didn't execute folks when we had it in the early 70s and again in the 1990s.

If gang rapists/murderers didn't get the death penalty when we had it here in NY State, this woman would not have been executed anyway.

It appears that it took several minutes for it to dawn on her that she was in REALLY BIG trouble now, and that she would likely spend the rest of her “modeling years” in prison.

She should do 25 years.

Her boss/bofriend (I’ve seen him reported as both) should be charged as well. He allowed an unlicensed driver, high on drugs to operate his vehicle (while he was in it, no less) and it lead to an innocent woman’s death.

>>>She will probably not spend one day in prison. Her slick lawyer will convince the jury that it was the old lady’s fault for being on her lawn.<<<

Actually, Nassau County (where this happened) has been cracking down hard on DUI homicides. A few years back, a man was convicted of 2nd degree murder in a drunk driving crash that killed a limo driver and a young girl.

Of course, the DA there lets drug dealing thugs go free with a stern warning, but that is another story.
