Do Blacks Have a Reason to Vote GOP? Michael Steele Says No
CBS ^ | 4/22/10 | Stephanie Condon

The Republican Party has not given African Americans a good reason to vote for the party, Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele said Tuesday night.

"You really don't have a reason to, to be honest -- we haven't done a very good job of really giving you one. True? True," Steele said at DePaul University, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Steele, the first African-American chairman for the RNC, said the GOP has lost its historical link to African Americans.

"This party was co-founded by blacks, among them Frederick Douglass," he said. "The Republican Party had a hand in forming the NAACP, and yet we have mistreated that relationship. People don't walk away from parties, their parties walk away from them."

Only one problem is they were promised and are the most hurt with the downturn. They voted cuzz he was a brother...for the color not the man. Now the messiah is failing them more than ever which should give them a reason to open their eyes and vote for a man and not the color.

“He is a not very concealed sleeper. He is the 2010 October surprise.”

I fear that he is a “sleeper” for the left and he will sabotage the Republican Party just before the election. A replacement needs to be found immediately... and he needs to get lost.

Are there any “black politicians” that aren’t racist?

Apparently, blacks are somehow different than other groups. They must have no interest in individual freedom, personal responsibility or self-reliance.

“A prediction: when this jerk is given the heave-ho from his position as head of the RNC, he will defect to the ‘RATS”

Defect? I’m beginning to think he “is” one of them NOW. I think he is a “plant”.

However, he was not “made leader” because of his skin color - remember that Ken Blackwell was in the running, too.

IMO, Steele was chosen because he was an East Coast moderate black guy. Being a current Ohio resident, I would much prefer Ken Blackwell got the job if they were insisting on putting an African American in charge of the RNC to counter BHO.

Dear Michael, the way you get people to vote for you is to propose sound policies for the nation that affect everyone positively.

You don’t promise Blacks one thing, Latinos another, Whites something else, and on and on.

God fella, you really are a clueless ignoramus aren’t you.

This is the third absolutely leftist comment that is beyond the pale, in the last month.

“You’re not getting guff because you’re black...”

“The Democrats and Obama hate this nation and are trying to destroy it.”

Forgive me, but we don’t need someone leading the RNC that sounds just like them.

Can I get a refund on those contributions I made to the Ehrlich-Steele campaign from 2002 when the latter was running for lt. governor?! His statements are unreal. That is one reason why I threw away the latest RNC mailing asking for money.

Didn’t conservatives come roaring to Steele’s defense in that ‘02 campaign when it was *lefties* who were castigating him for being an uncle Tom and trashing him the way they do with Justice Thomas and so many other black conservatives?? This is how he repays us.

Do whites have a reason the vote GOP? Ya know, the ONLY reason, I have voted for the GOP is that they are not Democrats. I am NOT so sure this is a good enough reason. Unfortunately, the alternative is worse.
I have been PO’ed at the Republicans since the repeal of the Glass - Steagall Act - Phil Gramm was involved in that. I did not like Dennis Hastert. Except for Iraq, I disliked VERY much of Bush’s administration. The ONLY reason I voted for McCain was because Palin was on the ticket.
I believe Steele needs to expand his premise. It is not just blacks that have little reason to vote for the GOP, many whites or conservatives do not either. Yeah, some are now starting to fight but it’s taken 10 years.

I would much prefer Ken Blackwell got the job...

Blackwell has two distinct advantages over Steele.

1. He really is a conservative.

2. He's competent.

Republicans, bribe you with the money you earn.
Democrats, bribe you with the money other people earn.

There are currently two Viable Political Parties in this Country, The Republican Party and the Communist Party.

True, Blacks today don’t have a reason to vote GOP. Steele should note two more facts:

Whites today don’t have a reason to vote GOP.

Asians today don’t have a reason to vote GOP.

It’s real Americans who vote for conservatives, and we’re indifferent to skin color. If the GOP will run conservative candidates who believe in individual freedom and opportunity, then all real Americans will have a reason to vote GOP.
