I heard some politician bashing this law saying that police would use flimsy excuses such as “lack of English” to check immigration status, as if that were racial profiling. Anyone who is LEGALLY in this country should be able to speak basic English to a policeman if stopped. Why wouldn’t this be a big red flag? And you know what? If you’re stopped, and you’re legal, the nice policeman will apologize and let you go on your way.
