To be young and socialist
Las Vegas Review-Journal ^ | April 25, 2010 | SHERMAN FREDERICK

Surprising but true: A few of my very best friends are touchy-feely, "can't-we-all-just-get-along" classic American liberals.

That's because I choose friends not based on politics, but character. Tolerance, kindness and a healthy sense of humor trump party affiliation almost every time.

Tolerance, kindness and a healthy sense of humor

These are not the traits of the Left...

“Tolerance, kindness and a healthy sense of humor “

“These are not the traits of the Left...”

I was just going to say exactly that — I agree with you completely.

We needed a little more excerpts — the rest of the article is much better, than indicated by the first couple of lines:

“The latest manifestation following in the footsteps of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright comes from Bertha Lewis, the chief executive officer of ACORN.

She spoke on March 25 before the Young Democratic Socialists conference, in which students everywhere were invited “to meet comrades from around the country, trade stories, share experiences, and build the solidarity necessary to be resilient in the face of the overwhelming forces opposed to a true socialist agenda in America.”

These spoiled college pukes that walk around with their Hammer & Sickle, or Che Guevara shirts have no freaking clue what they’re doing! No doubt they’ve had their heads filled with the drivel from their ex-hippie profs!

Telling these imbeciles how many millions of people had to die under this “utopia” would probably fall on deaf ears.

Next time you run into one of these youthful idiots ask them this: “When was last time you Face Booked, or Twittered with somebody from North Korea, China, Venezuela, or Cuba?”

Communism is nothing more than a fashion statement to these brain-dead morons!

You are apparently a poor judge of character. Many liberals are such because they have a weak character. Most liberal policies are based upon envy, greed and hatred.

i became politically aware at around age 20. Thought I was leftist. Then considered myself centrist at around 22. By age 25, I consider myself a far right winger

What do we expect, actually? We all know the importance of early education in building characters and life view. Since the 1960s and 1970s, the liberals have slowly but sure taken the media and the education of American youths and put their liberal views on ‘justice’, race, environment, gender, etc., in their minds. At the same time, they also planted the evil of capitalism and White Americans as the most arrogant people in the world. While some are able to grow out of it, most don’t, and perhaps will not.

I don’t want to sound gloomy, but it is not something that ‘unexpected’. I also don’t think that it’s an irreversible process, as we can see with FNC in the media.

I am sure the young socialists will have a sense of humor when the socialist state comes for everything they own to support itself!! You would think that the brain dead would
opt for freedom but that takes work! Besides they can always live home with mommy or make higher /sic education a life time career

Problem is: if mommy and daddy did everything right and did well enough to have the kid home forever, mommy and daddy are now public enemy number one.

I am afraid the only way some of these people will learn the horrors of socialism is first hand. But, my fear is we get stuck in some sort of quasi 3rd way Scandinavian world. Where spirit, the individual and innovation are squashed and everyone just quietly resigned themselves to it.

"And the fear of a black planet is real."

One look at Africa should tell you why.
