Stewart is probably channeling the Alinsky tactic: “ridicule is a potent weapon.”
Only if you let if be one. But if you don't take him seriously then you take the weapon right out of his hand. I watch Stewart because more often than not he's funny. And if he manages to make Fox look silly and more than a little hypocritical, he does it by quoting their own words back to them.
