By Kerry Picket on April 27, 2010 into Water CoolerEditSubscribe A second financial reform cloture vote failed to proceed in the last 24 hours. At 4:30 PM on Tuesday, Senate Democrats could not bring in the 60 votes needed to overcome a mainly Republican filibuster to halt debate on legislation that would overhaul the banking industry. The motion failed 57 to 41. Senator Ben Nelson, Nebraska Democrat, voted with the GOP against cloture for a second time.

If Senator Ben HAD ever agreed {with my letters to him} that voting for ANY Bill over 1000 pages long in NEVER a good idea; I’d be more Impressed.

If he had ever decided to fight to kill a bill that “90” percent good, on the grounds that the other 10% is TOXIC;I’d be more receptive.

As it Is...this is too little and too late. He is TOAST in 2012.

He is hearing from the good citizens of Nebraska who are pissed at his tawdry sell out on Obamacare and is trying to make amends. He will soon find out that the ploy won’t work.

If Lindsay Graham were the one Republican vote for a “Cap and Trade” bill, it would be heralded until the end of time as a “Bipartisan” vote. So why is not the opposition to the Democrat financial reform bill called “Bipartisan”?
